🏷️Thinking Beyond Labels: Celebrating Pride and Progress Together🌈 What does true inclusion mean to you? Is it merely acknowledging differences, or is it about creating spaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued? At FIIB, we believe it’s the latter. We’re dedicated to moving beyond mere acceptance of diversity to truly celebrating it. Recently, FIIB, in collaboration with Girl Up India and Breaking Barriers at Tagore International School (Vasant Vihar), hosted an event that went beyond dialogue to drive meaningful change. The day started with insights, as keynote speaker Prof Kokil Jain, Dean-Research & Outreach, FIIB, illuminated the importance of inclusion in today’s world. Our esteemed panelists—Rajasekharan Pazhaniappan (He,Him,His), Co-founder v-shesh, Shaman Gupta, Co-founder Mysfit Trans Youth Foundation, Rudrani Chettri, founder member of Mitr Trust, and Yash Sharma, Founder, Official Humans of Queer —shared their powerful stories, shedding light on the ongoing challenges faced by the LGBTQIA++ community. The discussion was moderated by Anushka Maheshwary. From tackling stereotypes to addressing systemic barriers, the discussions were a stark reminder of the work still needed to achieve true equality. June paints rainbows across many nations. 🌈 But in India, September, too, unfurls the vibrant flag of Pride. Because on a crisp autumn day in 2018, the scales of justice tipped towards equality and acceptance. We are talking about the Supreme Court's landmark ruling in "Navtej Singh Johar v. Union of India" which overturned the archaic law outlined in Section 377. 🔚 This progressive verdict, delivered by a five-judge bench, decriminalized consensual same-sex relationships breathing life into the constitutional promises of dignity and liberty for everyone, regardless of sexual orientation. 🌟 Above all, it rekindled faith in the legal system for LGBTQ+ individuals who had long lived in the shadows of this outdated law. It marked the first time they felt truly seen and protected. The impact in workplaces was palpable too. Organizations began to update anti-discrimination policies, establish LGBTQ+ employee resource groups, and promote inclusive hiring practices. Yet, it's important to note that this is just the beginning. Cultural shifts take time and consistent effort. Many organizations are still navigating how to create truly inclusive environments. As India celebrates Pride this September, it's an opportunity for businesses to reflect on their progress. And perhaps plan future initiatives to help make the workplace an accepting, warm space. 💞 How is your company working towards a more inclusive workplace? #workplaceculture #inclusivity #employeeexperience #lgbtq

Brown Girls Rule Indeed! As an Asian Indian, it's inspiring to see how the younger generation is owning their authenticity while staying connected to their heritage. My daughter, for example, is deeply interested and engaged with our Indian culture and family traditions. It fills me with pride to see how she finds balance between her unique identity and the values we hold dear as a family. I am now using her water bottle, which has stickers she thoughtfully bought to express who she is. Every time I see it, I’m reminded of how beautifully she combines her personal identity with her cultural roots. In a world where identity is continuously evolving, it’s a reminder that we don’t have to choose between who we are and where we come from. We can honor both, creating a powerful blend of authenticity and cultural legacy. #browngirls #linkedintopvoices #allies #allyship #RebekonConsultingLLC #changemakers #diversityequityinclusion #diversity #diversityequityandinclusion #hrconsulting #hr #mentalhealth #hrtech #Bathroom2Boardroom #diversityandinclusion #neurodiversity #hradvice #hrrecruiter #hrrecruitment #leadership #humanresources #deib #lgbtq #transgender #genderdiverse #gendernonbinary #humanrights #ceo #ceos #leadership #leaders #healthcare #healthequity #diversityinclinicaltrials #genderequity #racialequity #transgender #entrepreneurs

India's Supreme Court decision to abolish Section 377 marked a monumental step for #LGBTQ+ rights, sparking hope and acceptance across the nation. This milestone wasn't just a legal triumph; it was a societal awakening that validated the existence and dignity of millions. The 2009 Delhi High Court judgment was pivotal in setting the stage for this victory. By decriminalizing consensual same-sex relationships, it challenged deeply entrenched prejudices and ignited a movement toward equality. Although temporarily overturned, it established a foundation for the Supreme Court's 2018 ruling that finally struck down the archaic law. These legal strides have empowered the LGBTQ+ community in #India, fostering a culture of inclusion, encouraging conversations, and challenging stereotypes. Yet, the journey continues toward full equality and acceptance. We at Impulse New Delhi hosted an open Mic event recalling all the efforts made by the community and also how sexual wellbeing play a crucial role. Click the link to get the glimpse. The court’s decision to read down Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, which criminalized consensual homosexual acts, was a powerful victory in the fight for equality, justice, and human rights. For the first time, millions of LGBTQ+ individuals in India were legall

India's trans community is at the receiving end of constant violence. Numerous reports of lynchings, or sexual assault are still quite common. If not direct violence, their lives are often disappeared behind stigma or negative stereotypes. When it comes to trans persons, cases of discrimination often go unreported, as was shown in Ravi Jadhav's "Taali", featuring @sushmitasen47 Set against this backdrop, the life-affirming story of Gazal Dhaliwal assumes a poignant significance. A screenwriter and director, Dhaliwal is a proud trans woman, who has reclaimed her own narrative. Often lack of awareness around trans identities leads to negative bias towards trans communities. It is important we allow trans persons to come forward and share their stories, so that we can connect to the humanity within them. Because, stories like Dhaliwal's are still quite rare. Undeniable structural barriers hinder the overall wellbeing of trans persons in our country. What do you think needs to change? How do you think we can better support the trans people in our country? Tell us in the comments. #Transcommunity, #lgbtqsupport, #lgbtqi, #inclusion, #inclusionatwork

"The journey towards workplace inclusion for the #LGBTQAI+ community is still in its early stages. While Indian corporations have taken some steps towards creating awareness and understanding of the significance and difficulties surrounding LGBTQAI+ inclusion, there is still much progress to be made. We must continue pushing forward, vocalizing our support, and standing in solidarity by actively advocating for allyship. Not only is allyship a natural and effective approach to promoting #diversityandinclusion at the workplace, but it also extends to our families and society as a whole. It is no secret that truly diverse and inclusive organizations surpass their competitors. So let us take the step from being merely aware to actively advocating for change." #allyship #growth #createopportunities #diversityequityinclusionandbelonging #indiafordiversity #indiainc

Anita Humanitarian Foundation TED-x Speaker and First Transwoman of Indian Origin , Germany and Europe
As WANITA Foundation is progressing at a fast pace to spread awareness on "Humanity", "Peace" and "Inclusivity", via a FREE online fellowship course through our online platform iLIGHT, we also strive to work with Governments in Advancing Indian LGBT Rights through Inclusive Public Policy & Safety Initiatives. In recent years, India has witnessed significant strides in recognizing and protecting the rights of its LGBT community. However, there is still much more work to be done to ensure full equality and safety for all individuals regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Presently appointed 6 member team via Hon. Supreme Court of India is preparing a detailed report, how to make the environment more inclusive. We see this move a very positive step. I realign to India after 23 years of my life in Germany, studied around the world in major universities, as an entrepreneur, my co-founded organizations #WANITAFoundation and #RainbowAngels along with my co-work partners Sam Nothingmore and Amith Hegde , we constantly strive and explore to make the environment better in India now and explore critical role of inclusive public policy and safety initiatives in advancing LGBT rights across India. Our desired aim in the next days is to reach - Public policy initiatives, which plays a pivotal role in shaping the lived experiences of LGBT individuals. Advocating further - legislative reforms, such as anti-discrimination laws and affirmative action measures, are essential steps towards creating a more inclusive society. Moreover, policies that recognize diverse family structures and provide legal recognition for same-sex relationships are crucial in affirming the rights and dignity of LGBT individuals. Referring to my two articles yesterday and the day before on Indian Transgenders - LGBT community is not monolithic but intersects with other dimensions of identity, such as race, religion, class, and disability. Intersectional approaches to policymaking ensure that the unique challenges faced by marginalized LGBT individuals are adequately addressed, fostering a more inclusive and equitable society for all. We eagerly anticipate connecting with individuals from all corners of India during our "Samaikhya Bharat Yatra" in the near future. Together, let us delve into discussions on how we can collectively contribute to building our nation into a beacon of inclusivity, humanity, and peace. By demonstrating these values in our actions and interactions, we aspire to pave the way for a more humane and harmonious world. Thank you #BuildABetterIndia #PeacefulFuture #HarmoniousSociety #MakeADifference #UnitedForChange
