Monday, 12 Feb 2024 KUCHING: An ambitious billion-ringgit agrovoltaic farm that will integrate a large solar plant with sustainable animal feed economics (Safe) involving Malaysian-China companies has been planned for Sarawak. The project in the northern region of Baram will be undertaken jointly by Planet QEOS Sdn Bhd and China Machinery Engineering Corp (CMEC) Investment and funding in the project could go up to RM10bil. The Safe agrovoltaic complex project will be powered by technologically advanced 1,000 megawatt hour (MWh) solar plant, and will carry out mass production of carbon neutral animal feed and broiler chickens. Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg was briefed on the project recently. Planet QEOS and CMEC said in a joint statement: “The patent-applied technology powering the Safe agrovoltaic farm will enable the energy farm to generate annually 1,430 GWh of energy, 170,000 tonnes of carbon neutral feed and 25 million carbon neutral broiler chickens at fixed, pre-determined and sustainable prices for 30 years.

Pertamina Group Launches Solar Power Initiative To Boost Hydroponics In Dumai, Indonesia In a bid to advance sustainable agricultural practices and support local communities, Pertamina Group has rolled out the Desa Energi Berdikari (DEB) program in Tanjung Palas Village, East Dumai District. This initiative involves the installation of solar power plants (PLTS) to support hydroponic farming and address energy challenges faced by local agricultural groups. Hydroponics, a method of growing plants without soil, has gained popularity since the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly for its potential to generate additional income and optimize limited space. The Sehati Group, a community organization in Dumai City, has been successfully cultivating lettuce and mustard greens using hydroponics. Unergy, a Colombian start-up specializing in financing #renewableenergy ventures, has unveiled plans for its inaugural agrivoltaic projects in #Colombia. These initiatives will see the establishment of solar mini-farms strategically positioned in regions boasting solar radiation levels exceeding 1,800 kWh/kWp and with an inclination of less than 10 degrees. The targeted areas include lands near the #Atlantic coast, the Caribbean region, the northern territories, and the low valleys of the Andean region. #Unergy has revealed that it is currently advancing three projects at various stages of development. However, the company asserts that its portfolio boasts a pipeline of 1,000 mini-farms, with 18 already financed and in the implementation phase, while another 100 are in the financing process. The maiden #agrivoltaic endeavor is situated in Mompox, Bolívar department, where #Unergy is collaborating with a local agricultural entity experienced in cultivating patilla and chili. The second project, located in La Paz, Santander department, has been earmarked for the cultivation of cucurbits such as melon or watermelon, with plans to forge alliances with nearby peasant communities. The third project, operational as of April, is located in San Diego, Cesar department, where Unergy is set to plant 5,000 melon plants in #partnership with a local farmer. #Unergy #Colombia #RenewableEnergy #Agrivoltaics #SolarFarms #SustainableAgriculture #EnergyFinance #SouthAmerica #LatinAmerica To read more, visit: https://lnkd.in/djjDE7ZU

We've again certified that all our emissions are accounted for Scope 1, 2 and a good portion of 3 – #carbonneutral for the fifth consecutive year. Footprint calculation verification by SCS Global Services, offsets from Climate Impact Partners, Renewable energy purchased from the PLN Indonesia Power (state-owned power company), plus reductions in emissions from our own investment in #solar. To top if off, we planted 50,000 trees (over 90% mangroves), working with the #Ministry of #Environment and #Forestry (Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan). Furthermore, we don't recognized any offsets from the tree planting initiative. If we had permanent access to the planting sites and could therefore certify this initiative over the last three years, we would likely be #climatepositive at this point. ______________________________________________ #Indonesia #paintandcoatings #paint. 🌱🌊 Investor-ready spotlight on SeatechEnergy, who recently pitched their project at the PFAN Investor Forum in #Indonesia! They are partnering with local cooperatives in Indonesia to boost #seaweed production using innovative pod structures. Inspired by South African methods, they are set to meet the rising demand for seaweed in various industries, including bioplastics, biofuels, animal feed and more. 🌊 This project brings numerous positive impacts, driving economic growth through #sustainable farming practices and creating jobs, especially for local women involved in seaweed farming tasks. Additionally, the seaweed farm provides environmental benefits, acting as a habitat for ocean wildlife and capturing #carbon to deacidify the ocean. 💰 With plans for a large-scale farm in Takalar, South Sulawesi, they are seeking USD 3 million in investment. Once operational, the Sulawesi farm is expected to absorb 1,500 tonnes of CO2 per year. ”There are a lot of new applications in various stages of commercial development that will lead to new demand for seaweed, so business-wise, it makes a lot more sense to focus on seaweed production”, says Jeroen Langelaan, Director of Seateach Energy.
