China Releases 47 New or Updated National Food Safety Standards The People’s Republic of China’s National Health Commission (NHC) and State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) have released 47 new or updated standards in the Chinese National #FoodSafety Standards, alongside six amendments sheets. The 47 new or updated standards cover #foodadditives, nutritional fortification substances, milk powder, food contact materials, #microbial testing methods, and testing for arsenic and nickel.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued vide notification dated 17th October ,2024 amending the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. The restriction on selling mixtures of two or more edible oils has been removed for Multi-Source Edible Oils (as specified under clause 24 of sub-regulation 2.2.1 of regulation 2.2). However, these oils must be sold in packages not exceeding 15 liters. Furthermore, Multi-Source Edible Oils and fat spreads no longer need to carry the AGMARK certification mark on sealed package labels.
