Taxo (YC S24) integrates with electronic health records (EHRs) to automate medical billing and coding. Its AI-powered solution reduces the time and cost of claims processing by 90%, enabling providers to focus on patient care rather than administrative tasks. In 2023, the U.S. healthcare system spent $4.8 trillion, with over 35% of costs attributed to administration, much of which stems from the need to manage vast amounts of unstructured and fragmented data. This situation results in healthcare professionals spending more time on paperwork than on patient care, which reduces service capacity, delays treatment, and drives up costs. Ahmed Kerwan, a practicing physician, experienced firsthand the immense burden of paperwork that detracted from his ability to provide care. Determined to find a solution, he pursued a fellowship at Harvard to explore the intersection of AI and healthcare. He then partnered with Hassan Tahir, a leading deep learning engineer specializing in state-of-the-art transformer models. Together, they created Taxo, a platform that has already enabled dozens of providers to process thousands of patient cases more quickly and cost-effectively. Congrats to the team on the launch! 🚀 https://lnkd.in/gNqvUHSG
Congrats on the launch guys! Ahmed Kerwan Hassan Tahir! This looks awesome. By far one of the most impactful ways of freeing up clinician time. This is going to be amazing for healthcare 🚀
Exciting work Hassan and team, looking forward to seeing what comes next 🥳
love the demo! 🚀
Wow this is brilliant. I can see the benefits in a private healthcare system intertwined with insurance/ billing, but there are also interesting opportunities to translate to (public) primary care. Physicians like myself can spend up to 14hrs/ week reading letters, never mind re/coding, crosschecking notes to complete medical assessments, searching variations of terms to ensure nothing has been missed etc etc. Can't wait to see this grow and help us refocus our time back into patient care Ahmed Kerwan 🎉🚀
As a hospital medical doctor, it’s inspiring to see technology being used to free up time so that we can focus more on patient care. Came to medicine to practice patient care, not to do all of this paperwork, can't wait for it to come to the NHS! Excited to follow and see the impact Taxo will make!
While I was at GSTT, a pain point for the clinicians was dealing with billing, they'd have loved Taxo. Would allow them focus on the parts of the job they love.
The streamlining of EHR data analysis has potential not only to disrupt the medical billing process but the way that the entire clinical community interacts with data, not only unlocking time and attention but likely reducing medical errors which could save patients lives and HCOs from costly litigation. Ahmed Kerwan I know a VC and several angels who would be interested, let’s talk on PM
Ahmed Kerwan is one of the best founders I know - excited to see how far you’ll go!

2moCan see this being really helpful over in the UK to help with managing all the administration involved in healthcare, look forward to seeing it in action 👊🏽👌
