How does Astigmatism affect your vision, and how can it be corrected by refractive surgery? Astigmatism is a common vision condition caused by an irregular curvature of the cornea or lens in the eye. In a normal eye, the cornea and lens are evenly curved, allowing light to focus precisely on the retina. With astigmatism, the cornea grows to resemble the shape of a rugby ball rather than a perfectly round sphere, and this can cause light to focus in more than one area rather than directly on the retina. This can result in blurry vision and discomfort in daily activities. Astigmatism can be treated in a variety of ways. People usually resort to prescription glasses or contact lenses, but refractive surgery presents a more precise, long-term solution to this eye condition. Swipe through the document to learn more about the benefits of correcting astigmatism with laser eye surgery. Our LASIK and LASEK procedures at Optimax are highly effective in fixing Astigmatism. Recovery is rapid, and there is reduced dependence on corrective eyewear. On this episode of Face the Facts, Dr. Wang dives into the Deep Neck Space and everything it encompasses. If you've undergone submental liposuction (double chin lipo) but are still unsatisfied with your results, it could be because liposuction doesn't always reach deeper fat deposits in the neck. This area, known as the Deep Neck Space, may require surgical intervention to fully remove the excess fat and achieve the desired contour. Dr. Wang explains the limitations and when surgery may be needed for optimal results. https://lnkd.in/ea4kYYbQ 👩⚕️ Dr. Lexie Wang, Facial Plastic Surgeon @drlexiewang To schedule an appointment: 📞202.785.4187 📧 info@WestEndPlasticSurgery.com #westendplasticsurgery #plasticsurgerydc #dcplasticsurgery #plasticsurgery #washingtondc #dcblogger #neckliftdc #necklift #chinliposuction #ChinLipo #liposuctiondc #liposuction #liposuctiondmv

Are cloudy or blurred vision, faded colors, glare sensitivity, or difficulty seeing at night affecting your daily life? These could be symptoms of cataracts. Cataracts occur when the eye's natural lens becomes cloudy over time, leading to vision problems. Its the leading cause of treatable blindness in the world. Fortunately, effective treatments are available. In early stages glasses can give better vision but as cataract density increases, it needs definitive treatment in form of surgery.Cataract surgery is a highly skilled and safe procedure where the cloudy lens is replaced with a clear artificial lens, known as an intraocular lens (IOL). Different types of IOLs, such as monofocal, multifocal, and toric lenses, can be chosen based on your specific vision needs. Phacoemulsification is the most common surgical treatment done for cataract and the technology is ever changing in this front. I am proud and happy to be part of the journey in restoring vision from this treatable blindness. For more information visit 𝒉𝒕𝒕𝒑𝒔://𝒅𝒓𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒚𝒂𝒔𝒉𝒓𝒊.𝒄𝒐𝒎/𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕/ Don't let cataracts hold you back! 💡 Did you know approximately 250,000 cataract surgeries are performed in Australia each year? Cataract surgery removes cataracts, known as cloudy areas, from the eye to improve vision loss when performing everyday tasks, such as watching TV or reading. During the surgery, Patients are usually awake and may notice lights or motion, but won’t be able to see what the doctor is doing. As the cataracts are removed, the surgeon will insert an artificial intra-ocular lens (IOL) in its place. Once the surgery is complete, patients will need 8 weeks to recover. In this period, you may be given eye drops and special eye shields to aid the healing process. Your doctor will schedule regular checkups to ensure your eye is healing correctly. June is Cataract Awareness Month. Many patients think that a cataract is like a skin on the eye or on the lens itself. In reality, cataract is a clouding of the eye’s lens that blocks or changes the passage of light into the eye. Over time, this becomes an increasingly visually significant cataract. Did you know that cataracts are the leading cause of blindness worldwide? Cataracts can be treated with cataract surgery, one of the most common elective procedures in the U.S. Did you know cataract surgery and its ability to restore vision has been associated with significant improvements in quality of life? According to the National Eye Institute, although there may be no early symptoms, patients may begin to notice: cloudy or blurry vision colors that look faded difficulty seeing at night lamps, sunlight or headlights appearing too bright a halo around lights seeing double (this sometimes goes away as the cataract gets bigger) frequent changes to the prescription of eyeglasses or contact lenses #CataractAwarenessMonth #EyeHealth #CarePointHealth #HudsonCounty
