We are happy to announce our 2024 Home Growers Cup (official name TBD) sponsored by the Maryland Cannabis Reserve and Maryland's Marvelous Mushrooms (more sponsorship opportunities to come) is gonna happen this year, even if its small to start out. Judging will be conducted using the Ganjier systematic protocol with a numerical score that correlates with a variety of quality points evaluated by experts. Judging criteria will be overviewed in an upcoming zoom interest meeting. Broad categories will be craft, crafty, and commercial systems with smaller subgroups available depending on the interest size. In short (and there is a deeper discussion to be had with the community here I know) we will define craft cannabis as full sun, full term, living soil, natural amendments only. Maximizes quality. "Crafty" will be for mixed systems, like living soil in a tent, or mixed light greenhouses or aquaponic systems. Essentially a system that balances quality and quantity "Commercial" category is for the lights and hydro folks. Focused on quantity and efficiency. All 3 categories are capable of producing good quality cannabis given the right genetics and the right grower, but we heavily lean towards supporting the craft market and true craft cannabis and as such will be judging entries based on quality within each cultivation style. Like wine though, the best cannabis in the world comes from an optimized genetic in relation to its regional terroir. We like wine from the hills of Napa Valley and Bordeaux, not from hydro grapes in a tent somewhere. If you are interested in entering the competition there is still work to be done. Goal is to start around May to give outdoor growers a full season (including cure time). First thing we need is a mailing list for interested growers and to set up an organized meeting to go over the competition rules. If you are interested in competing email marylandscannabisreserve@gmail.com with your contact information. Name, location, best phone number and email to reach you, and what system you grow with. #ganjier #cannabiscup #homegrow #investment #sponsorship #maryland All reactions: 22 22

DEAR CRAFT CANNABIS LOVERS! Ok, sorry for the caps lock, but we are so proud to be hosting Maryland's first craft cannabis competition, judged to the highest standard exclusively by professional Ganjiers! Our competition will be a true celebration of the best cannabis the Maryland terroir has to offer! This will be a celebration of sun and soil, open to craft farmers growing in soil/sun based systems. The gold standard for truly amazing cannabis comes from the genetics adapted to the regional terroirs of the world, and like wine, is best when grown in full sun for a full term. If you are a full sun, full term, soil based cannabis grower then we would love to invite you to compete in The Green Crab Craft Classic! Interested parties should email Marylandscannabisreserve@gmail.com to add yourself to the mailing list. We are open to home growers, micro-licenses, and standard licenses in the state of Maryland only (if you are in another state and would be interested in hosting a craft competition...talk to me...), all entries will be given an official and professional grade (similar to how wine is graded), and Competition rules, registration requirements, and entry fees/categories will be emailed out soon and competition registration period will be from 4/20 to 5/20, plants in the ground by 5/21 and then we are off to the races. Sponsorship packages will be available as well and interested businesses who support the craft cannabis community should also reach out to Marylandscannabisreserve@gmail.com for more information. Let the 2024 craft cannabis season begin! #ganjier #cannabiscompetition #emeraldcup #craftcannabis #regenerativefarming #livingsoil #fullsunfullterm #investor #sponsorship #cannabisinvestment

WOW, if you want to have some fun this weekend and you are tired of Easter Egg hunts, try this. Look for the batch of weed which is under recall by the Los Angeles department of cannabis control. What are you looking for? A product under recall because the potency dropped from its labeled, tested potency of July 2023. The LA DCC tested potency, tested March, 2024, had dropped by about 8% of the label posted potency. Still a good high, just not quite so high. Where can you find this product? Good luck as there is less than 2% of the original batch unsold. This may be like a needle in a haystack. Oh, and per the LA DCC, there may be side effects. I think that boils down to you may not get as high as usual with this product. My questions are: what are the regs for retesting products? When are the products to be retested? Is the retesting only for "slow moving products"? And here is the biggie: Is METRC, the system put in place for the safety of the public, capable of knowing where these remaining unsold products are located? Isn't that the point of METRC to ensure the safety of the public? Can LA DCC tell us where this few dozen unsold low potency products are located, and ruin our fun of finding this weed on our own??? Whenever I hear of these things, I always ask the question: how much time was spent on this licensed grower? and How could that time had been spent on the illegal market where NO TAX DOLLARS WERE GENERATED? It just makes me sad. I think I will go paint some eggs.

Did you know Oregon has some of the clearest hemp-THC beverage regulations in the nation? It may surprise many people given the general lack of hemp THC beverages in the market compared to states like Minnesota or Tennessee. However, the Oregon Deparment of Agriculture laid out clear guidelines back in July of 2022. Guidelines intended to ensure the sale of safe products are on the market while blocking unscrupulous players from entering the marketplace. The Pacific Hemp Beverage Summit is just around the corner, and we're excited to explore Oregon's unique position as a leader in the hemp THC beverage space. With some of the most open and forward-thinking regulations in the country, Oregon provides a fertile ground for innovation and growth in this emerging industry. Join us on October 11, 2024, at Silver Moon Brewing in Bend, OR, to dive deep into the regulatory landscape, hear from industry experts, and connect with fellow pioneers who are shaping the future of hemp THC beverages. Whether you're a manufacturer, distributor, retailer or just passionate about the potential of this industry, this is the event you can't afford to miss! 🔗 Secure your spot today at www.PHBSummit.com Let’s push the boundaries together and continue to make Oregon the epicenter of hemp beverage innovation! #HempTHC #HempBeverages #OregonInnovation #PHBSummit #HempIndustry #BeverageIndustry #CannabisRegulation

Ghostwriter & Hobby Grower 🌱 | I help brands talk about cannabis online. | Web Copywriter | Cannabis Ghostwriter | Subject Matter Advisor for Interactive Agencies | DM for Inquiries
Earlier this week I was on a call about craft licenses. "You're a grower, you tell me: How much weed can you get in a year from 5,000 sq ft of canopy?" — Ignoring the rest of a particularly juicy conversation on the bureaucracy and shadiness of the craft licensing processes for now, what is a reasonable expectation? Ballparking it on the call, I broke it down like this: Assuming you're the absolute best grower to ever grace the face of the commercial cannabis industry and you can hit every cycle perfectly, you're looking at ~100g/sq ft. Or 500,000 grams per turn. — Say you're running from clones, super dialed in, and you've got a 2 week veg, 9 week bloom, and you can turnover a room in a weekish. That's 3 months per cycle. That's 4 cycles per year. **Yes, I know the space could be split and you could chop 1000 sq ft every month and be in constant rotation, but we're keeping it simple here for ease.** — 3 months = 4 cycles/year = 2,000,000 grams per year. Or ~4,465 pounds. But most legal grows are not hitting 100g/sq ft. If they are, they're not doing it consistently. And if they're true craft, true boutique, yield isn't #1. So, let's say something more like 50g/sq ft on average. Or ~2,263 pounds. So, how much weed can you get in a year from 5,000 sq ft of canopy?" 2,263 pounds per year. — But that's hobby grower math from a guy who runs <50 sq ft of canopy space in tents (pictured is one of those tents). How far am I off? — Learn something? Follow for more grow math deep dives and hobby grower hot takes on the cannabis industry. The only thing that comes close to growing your own… …is someone growing it for you ☀️at a California Family Legacy Farm 🌱 Himalaya Vapes and Dabs are exclusively sourced from Farms. It’s right on the label ✅. A dozen farms throughout the state in the best #microclimates and growing regions. These are the “single vineyards,” of weed. Coming from the wine biz, I see sun-grown eclipsing indoor for quality to the future. All the nuances that make up “terroir” in wine can be explored with flower. We will see, and taste, the differences that only sun, soil, wind and human obsession and direction can bring. I’ve been growing my own since 2019 right in my sunny backyard. These babies grew to 14ft and produced 3lbs of Mac 2, London Pound Cake and Apple Fritter. A lot of great smoke and concentrates for months! Spring is coming, and I’ll have to pop some seeds soon, plant and let nature do it’s thing 💚. Not sure what I want to try this year, as long as one is #sativa Do you grow your own too? What have you learned from it? Did it come out great 👍? #cannabis #cannabisindustry #cannabiscommunity #cannabiseducation #growyourown #vape #dab #concentrates #cannabisgrowers #sativarunner

An appellation that is under the influence of a certain terroir should develop some level of desirability based on the cumulative traits of the region, grower and growing practices Click the link in the comments below to watch all 5 hours I spent with Kevin Jodrey on Future Cannabis Project

Hemp OG. Inc 500 in 1993. Pioneer in Hemp’s first billion-dollar segment, food. Vegan food producer since 1980, Hemp food since 1994. Consult the Hemp Consultant your Hemp Consultant consults.
June is Hemp History Month Hemp Times 1997 "Bioneer" Award for Outstanding Achievement in Food Products, for HempNut brand shelled hempseed. One of three industry awards it won, perhaps still the most of any hemp food. The other two awards were "Hempy" awards by the members of the HIA, in 1997 and 1998 long before today’s companies started, for HempNut brand shelled hempseed. This award is hemp paper on hemp fiberboard. Pivoting from previous success in a related field, Richard wrote the template for success in hemp three decades ago by pioneering the first successful billion-dollar business model. It has long had the most consumers, retailers, companies, products, sales and profits, and drove the most acres. His work in hemp was transformational for the industry, globally. Spending millions of his own money to build hemp’s big success earned him a blacklist for refusing to spread a popular lie sweeping the industry. Long retired as a result, today he still educates on hemp for free via “The Richard Rose Report” and the Hemp Food Association. Isn’t that the whole point of all this, to drive demand and thus acres? #hemp #hempseed

The appearance of ON rhubarb is yet another welcome sign of spring! In addition to growing veggies ourselves, we act as a distribution hub for a wide network of Ontario organic farms. This mutually beneficial arrangement allows us to expand our volume and selection, and allows the growers access to a wider market they otherwise would not have. We do not grow rhubarb ourselves; but because so many of this network does, we are able to offer it in great volume! (Just ask - wholesale inquiries only.) Also through this network, we have bunched green garlic to offer, and we are expecting volume on green, dino and red kale shortly! Lettuces are also expected to available soon (limited to start). Local first! #LoveOntFood #LocalFirst #Rhubarb #SustainableAgriculture #OrganicAgriculture #WholesaleProduce
