Do you get nervous when someone offers you something for free? I know I do! I'm always wondering what the catch is - cos there always is one! Get a free audit of your website - suddenly, there are a million 'critical issues' that are 'hurting your reputation'. Or a free set of steak knives - if you sign up to receive 25 emails per day and inadvertently agree to start paying a monthly subscription to a service you don't need. Well, guess what? We (I mean IQ Property Services ) offer a free one-hour consultation to people who are thinking about building their own home. Now - you don't have it yet, so we can't audit the current one. And if you've got to this point, I'm pretty sure you already have a set of steak knives. And we're not interested in making work for ourselves by sending you lots of emails. And I don't offer anything on subscription, although I'm sure the wife would be happy if she could sign me up to wash her car every week! So, what do you get for that free one hour, and what do I get? You get to outline your plans and ask any questions you might have about planning permission, rules and regs on building, contracts, insurances - anything. So, you get a lot of questions answered to give you more information about the project you're embarking on before you set out. That helps you avoid some potential pitfalls because none of us know what we don't know. We don't even know that we don't know about what we don't know! What do I get? Well, I get to help you avoid those pitfalls and get a clearer understanding of what you're undertaking. I get to give you practical advice and perhaps even point you in the direction of people who can help you. Now, at the end of that hour, you might decide that you have all the info you need, and you go on your merry way, never to get in touch again. And that is perfectly OK. Some people decide they've bitten off more than they want to chew or have the time to chew and want some further help from IQ. What that help looks like is up to them: we offer three levels of service to get as involved as you need, or just on a consultancy basis as the project unfolds. We really don't like seeing people hugely upset because their build project is going horribly wrong - it's upsetting for us and devastating for the people it's happening to.
