When is that last time we had 88 Senators agree on anything? The ADVANCE Act passed with strong bipartisan support in both the House of Representatives (393-13) and the Senate (88-2). It is expected to accelerate U.S. efforts to license and operate advanced reactors, supporting the country's clean energy goals and maintaining its leadership in nuclear technology. A broad base of zero carbon power generation is in everyone’s interest. With no realistic possibility to produce steel without coking coal from mines, like the future Whitehaven development recently postponed by the government, it’s important as much baseline power as possible is generated carbon free. New Nuclear and geothermal being the easiest to control but only New Nuclear being available now.

This would be an incredibly short-sighted move. They’re already setting us up for an announcement in no new nuclear in West Cumbria, trying to deflect the blame on previous ministers. The truth is that the power for all of these decisions lies in the hands of two people in position today, and two people only - Ed Mliband and Rachel Reeves. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/etZyrcpX
