CEO @Iceland Tourism Cluster // BoD @TCI Network

WE have our own PODCAST! 🎧 This is a pilot project aimed to go deeper into our role as a cluster but first and foremost to dive into our projects and how we can make the most impact for our industry and our members. The first episode is a talk between me and Magdalena Falter, PhD, our project leader in this field. The talk goes wide and touches on: ·        What are the main goals of the Iceland Tourism Cluster? ·        How does regenerative tourism differ from sustainable tourism? ·        What projects are currently being developed in the Iceland tourism cluster? The Iceland tourism cluster serves as a network that enhances the competitiveness of tourism companies through collaboration and value creation. Their primary focus areas include sustainable tourism, innovation, and digital solutions. Sustainable and regenerative tourism is one of the cluster's key focus areas, aiming to create long-term value while preserving Iceland's natural beauty. Building bridges among various stakeholders is essential for fostering collaboration in the tourism industry. This includes engaging universities, municipalities, and banks to share knowledge and resources. The cluster emphasizes the importance of addressing current challenges in tourism by connecting problem solvers with industry needs. Connecting individuals can lead to innovative solutions and collaborative problem-solving that may not have occurred otherwise. This network creates valuable opportunities within various projects, fostering growth and sustainability. The Iceland Tourism Cluster is dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs and travel tech companies by fostering collaboration and providing essential resources. The cluster in cooperation with the Tourism Board has been hosting the Iceland Travel Tech exhibition for five years to connect tech and tourism companies, enhancing knowledge and collaboration. The discussion revolves around the importance of regenerative tourism and its unique approach to sustainability. This new mindset encourages positive impacts on destinations while engaging travelers in responsible practices. Regenerative tourism is not merely a rebranding of sustainability; it represents an evolution in responsible tourism. It focuses on creating positive impacts rather than just minimizing harm. Education and collaboration are essential for promoting regenerative tourism in the Nordics. This new approach emphasizes giving back and using tourism to create positive impacts in communities. Regenerative tourism is framed as a transformative concept, shifting from traditional sustainability to a deeper commitment to nourishing communities and environments. This reflects a more holistic view of tourism. The conversation highlights the need for proactive strategies in tourism, advocating for a controlled and thoughtful approach rather than a reactive one. This mindset aims to ensure tourism benefits everyone involved. https://lnkd.in/dvPj8Xqh
