Want to help non-native English speakers conquer the language? Awesome! 🌟 Teaching English can be a blast if you know how to make it engaging and fun for your students with a joyful attitude. Here are some tips and tricks to keep your classes lively and effective. Let's get started! 🚀 1. Keep It Simple, Silly! 😜 First things first, remember the KISS principle: Keep It Simple, Silly! Use clear and straightforward language. Avoid complicated grammar and big words. Your students will appreciate it, and they'll learn faster. 2. Show, Don't Tell 🎬 Visual aids are your best friends. Use pictures, videos, props, and gestures. If you're teaching the word "apple," don't just say it—show them a juicy apple! 🍎 Visuals help students connect words with their meanings. 3. Make It Interactive 🤹 Get your students talking! Use pair work, group activities, and role-plays. The more they practice speaking, the better they'll get. And trust me, they’ll have way more fun acting out a restaurant scene than filling out a worksheet. And here are some more good tips: 4. Games Galore 🎉 5. Mix It Up 🎨 6. Encourage Mistakes 😅 7. Celebrate Progress 🎉 8. Be Patient and Flexible 🧘 9. Create a Warm Environment 🌞 10. Use Technology 📱 Remember, the goal is to make learning English a joyful experience. When your students are having fun, they’ll be more engaged and eager to learn. So, go out there, be the awesome teacher you are, and spread the love for English! 🌍❤️ WHICH WAS YOUR FAVOURITE TIP? I help Spanish-speaking adults in the U.S. learn how to speak English with confidence as fast as possible through non-traditional conversation classes for work, community, and travel.
Fall 2024 EDU 132: Professional Development Plans Hi everyone, I'm taking Fall 2024 EDU 132 online through the Colorado Department of Education. As I wrap up an activity for my EDU 132 course, I’ve been reflecting on my professional development (PD) plans for the fall. With CoTESOL’s conference coming up in November, I think it would be a fantastic opportunity to attend. Do any of you know of other great conferences in Colorado this fall? I’m also on the lookout for book recommendations or research papers that can deepen my understanding of adult education. I’m not the biggest fan of webinars—I prefer diving into a good book. If you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them! To kickstart the conversation, here’s what I submitted for my reflective task. I’m sharing it to spark ideas and discussions about how we can all make the most of our PD opportunities this season: Reflective Task Module 1: Professional Development Plan Most Impactful PD: Serving on the CoTESOL executive board from 2016-2020, including a term as President, was invaluable for my PD. Attending and presenting at conferences like CoTESOL, COABE, and TESOL International have exposed me to diverse teaching practices and global perspectives that I could immediately apply in my classroom. Recommended PD Opportunity: I’ve compiled a series of webinars and recordings from my own presentations focused on conversational teaching techniques. These could be valuable resources for you to enhance student engagement and conversational fluency. You can check them out here: https://lnkd.in/g6_3NsbY My PD Plan: Types of PD: Conferences (TESOL International, CoTESOL), books, and research articles on second language acquisition. Frequency: Weekly engagement through reading, webinars, and online discussions. Maximizing PD: I’ll keep a reflective journal to document insights and share them via blog posts or social media. I’ll also explore applying new strategies through action research. Specific Events: CoTESOL Fall Convention (November 15-16, 2024): “Cultivating Colorado's Multilingual Landscapes” Reading List: I’m focusing on books about language acquisition and teaching strategies. Suggestions are welcome! Additional Learning: Workshops or courses on advanced action research methodologies to systematically assess new teaching strategies and contribute to our field. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and recommendations! #AdultEd #ELL

Helping English language teachers connect with the learners who need them, through the Elevate Directory and online events
Way back in 2022 I saw a lot of teachers having to work online but struggling with the idea of starting their own language teaching business, and ending up working all hours for little return. So I wanted to create an event specifically on this issue. There's a lot of mindset work to be done when you start a business - how to sell, how to feel like you have enough experience, how to get your pricing right, what to teach. All of these issues are about mindset just as much as it is about your income or your tech or your teaching experience. So I scoured the internet in search of teachers who were also business people and could speak about this. The result was English Teaching Unlimited 2022. It was a great success and I'm so proud of the speakers and what we created. Here's the line up: 🔥How to bring your body and your creativity into your business and into your classes - Maria Ortega Garcia 🔥Crystal Clear Customer Service for the Online ESL Teacher - Crystal Weber 🔥Overcome your limiting beliefs and unleash your inner power - Roxana Areán 🔥Cultivating Change(makers) - Harry Waters Organic Approaches to Sustainable Teaching Businesses - The Learn YOUR English Team 🔥5 powerful strategies for writing ethical copy that converts - Lauren Martin 🔥How to grow your social media presence - Miranda Crowhurst 🔥Strategic mindset: the no. 1 quality you need to grow your teaching business - Rachael Roberts 🔥Neurodivergent Student in the classroom. ADHD & Dyslexia - Ania Karwowska 🔥Non Native and proud to teach - Rocio Rojas 🔥How to market yourself as a Non Native English teacher - Meri Maroutian 🔥Impostor Syndrome is Here to Stay. How to Live with it - Anita Modestova 🔥7 steps to building a profitable and sustainable language teaching business - Ola Kowalska All of these issues are still relevant today, maybe even more for many of us. So you can get the replay for ETUS for $9, or get all three replays of my teaching summits for $24, but just for a limited time https://lnkd.in/dKiZ54Ga

As every teacher... 👨🏫 We can know when our students are motivated to learn, when they need to check some vocabulary or specific grammar aspect, when they are not ready to complete some activities, or when they need to express something significant before completing the following task. 💫 🫶 Being in contact with students is a moment we love, and during online lessons, our goal focuses on providing a supportive and challenging learning environment where students can feel comfortable and learn. “Soy profe de Español y…me encanta acompañarte en tu proceso”.
