Stakeholder consultation is critical to strong policymaking - the focus groups with school leaders provide useful insights into the role of the #sna and together with other input set a direction for the first SNA Workforce Development Plan. Thanks to all who participated.

VA Managers, what is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the words, "Fair Housing?" If it's, "Ugh", it's because you've never been to the Best D*mn Fair Housing Course in Virginia and it's coming to #VLR2024. This class is not just for common interest community managers who need to obtain credit and are eager to learn about federal and state fair housing laws and regulations. It is also an excellent dialogue on common fair housing issues community associations and their managers encounter. Sure, you may have attended other fair housing courses in the past, but there is always room to build on what you know (or think you know) and hear a new take so you are better equipped to identify and properly respond to a fair housing matter. Don’t just attend for the credit. Join us to have fun, learn about the laws, discuss common scenarios that communities and their managers may not realize involve fair housing pitfalls, and hear about best practices you and your associations can employ. Warning: One of the presenters really geeks out over discussing fair housing matters. She cannot help herself (just wait to see how she gets excited about their educational chart). This course meets the bi-annual requirement for two (2) hours of fair housing training required by 18 VAC 48-50-100 of the Virginia Common Interest Community Manager Regulations for certification as a certified principal or supervisory employee. Negotiation case study in real time: After starting this school year with no contract, Newton educators went on strike last Friday for contract with Cost of Living Adustments (well below inflation rates), mental health resources, living wages for aides, and humane family leave. Mayor Fuller and the School committee has stonewalled, after several years of reducing funding of her schools, which are seen as a significant asset to Newton. The NTA is acting in a civil, respectful manner just as students are taught and adults appreciate. 98% of members support the strike. Newton citizen support is overwhelmingly for the educators. See instagram: NEWTON TEACHERS ASSOCIATION The NPS is criticizing the teachers, not negotiating, and relying on fines from an archaic law to pressure the union to give in, with no fines to the city (which gives the city no reason to bargain) to drag things out. #BRL2024: Come out and support the #BestRedlegCompetition on May 14 as the competitors complete their last event, a ruck. From 7:45-8:30 a.m., ruck march spectators are encouraged to view anywhere along Randolph Road between Fort Sill Blvd and Condon Road. Recommended parking locations are Honeycutt Gym, the Patriot Club, or behind the Marine Corps School or Fire Barracks. Ruck Traffic Plan for 6-9 a.m., Tuesday, May 14: DES will block both lanes of Randolph Road from Fort Sill Blvd west to McNair Hall and only the northbound lane of Fort Sill Blvd approximately from 7-9:30 a.m. This will impact the following areas: · Honeycutt Gym: From 7-9:30 a.m., individuals will not be able to enter the parking lot. They can exit in the southbound lane of Fort Sill Blvd. · Cowan Dental Clinic: Individuals are encouraged to utilize Donnelly Road to cross Randolph Road and access the clinic’s parking lot. We will have a Road Guard at that intersection to facilitate those going to Cowan between competitors passing. · Academic Heights: Residents and school buses are encouraged to use Condon, Geronimo, Hamilton, and Upton roads to enter and exit the residential area from 7-9:30 a.m. Additional Notes: Macomb Road will NOT be blocked for PT that morning. #TeamSill #KingOfBattle
