This feature is designed to help you show the impacts of zipper merging to your stakeholders and allow you to experiment with different configurations before your next TSM&O pilot project. Zipper Merging is one of the standout features in Vissim 2024, providing more detailed modeling of merging behavior on ramps, freeway and arterial lane drops, and construction zones. Vehicles anticipate and synchronize, creating suitable gaps, which reduces unwanted stops at the end of lane drops and results in a smoother merging process—simulating a "proper" Zipper Merge! We find ourselves amidst a housing crisis exacerbated by local city councils yielding to NIMBY interests, failing to show the political courage needed to enact necessary change. Simultaneously, we are witnessing a surge in criminal activity, from burglaries to car thefts and gun violence. Our discussions around transit fail to adequately tackle this pressing issue. Congestion worsens, distractions abound with populist but economically unsound proposals, while inefficiencies persist and taxes climb. Where is the visionary leadership for a brighter tomorrow? Drawing upon 24 years of immersion in Mississauga's community, I have actively contributed to its progress.
