Drones are becoming ubiquitous in civil and military applications, and now they're taking on a new role as first responders. 🚁 Police and fire departments in Fremont, California have launched a joint drone first responder (DFR) program that dispatches drones to 911 calls, providing real-time video of incidents before emergency personnel arrive on the scene. 🚨 The DFR program uses high-end consumer drones equipped with video cameras to gather critical information that helps dispatchers allocate resources more effectively and gives responders valuable context before entering potentially dangerous situations. 🎥 By getting eyes on the scene quickly, drones can also help clear up to 30% of calls that turn out to be false alarms, saving time and resources for chronically understaffed emergency services. ⏰ While the increasing use of drones by law enforcement raises valid concerns about privacy and surveillance, the Fremont police department has taken steps to address these issues through community outreach, strict deployment policies, and full transparency of flight records. 🔒 As drone technology continues to advance and become more affordable, we can expect to see more emergency services departments adopting DFR programs to enhance their response capabilities and improve outcomes for both responders and the communities they serve. 🌟 https://lnkd.in/dhUMdkRi #drones #emergencyservices #publicsafety #technology #innovation

The presence of drones (or: unmanned aircraft systems, UAS) near sensitive fixed site facilities, such as chemical warehouses, can pose significant risks. They might crash or fly across explosive sensitive areas. The conflicts in Ukraine and across the Middle East have highlighted the novel risks posed by drones to national and homeland security, particularly to critical infrastructure. Drones might also distract employees while doing dangerous work or violate their privacy. In the US, ACD and their member companies have been fighting to address these potential threats. They are urging federal lawmakers (FAA) to promptly issue restrictions for UAS operations over fixed site facilities. In the meantime approximately two dozen states are working on their own legislation, which is creating a confusing patchwork of state laws that hinders federal oversight over the national airspace system. In Europe, rules for the operation of drones have been established (EU/2019/947 ). However, these rules only provide a general framework that still needs to be implemented at the national level. In the ICTA T&S committee the global chemical distribution industry discusses how to best deal with these challenges. #drones #chemicaldistribution #safety #sustainability

Two growing trends: 1) Drones for delivery and 2) Interruptions to GPS. The former affects commercial as well as emergency uses; the latter comes from state sponsored as well as criminal forces feeling more embolden. Whilst GPS/GPNSS resiliency is available, it can be expensive and bulky. Our mmWave radar module could provide a low-cost Terrain Referenced Navigation (TRN) system, enabling delivery of commercial goods and emergency relief even when GPS/GPNSS is completely denied. Learn more about how low-SWaP/Cost TRN can enhance your platform today! https://lnkd.in/eDYmNV49 #TerrainReferencedNavigation #GPSDenied #RadarInnovation #RadarTechnology

To regulate rising drone activity, the FAA's Remote ID requirement for drones came into full effect last week, requiring that all drones over 0.55 pounds be registered and meet broadcasting standards. This will help immensely to keep vital facilities safe from careless and clueless drone pilots and their devices. While domestic violent extremists (DVEs) are unlikely to be intimidated by a little DIY work to disable their drone's remote ID broadcaster, the FAA's requirements combined with Spotter radar are a great combo to quickly spot hostile drones. Any drone your Spotter Radar picks up on that isn't broadcasting—likely a threat that needs immediate attention. Prepare for Spotter Global's ISC West Launch of the updated AX250 3D rotating radar and stay informed on the latest in military UAV innovations, through the latest Spotter Blog article: “The Rise of Radar-Based UAV Detection For Military: A Game-Changer in Modern Warfare”. #FAA #drone regulations #dark drones #compact surveillance radar #radar #spotter global #situational awareness #critical infrastructure #perimeter security

There are all the methods to counter drones here. The following are common methods to counter drones: 1. Radio interference: Interfering with the communication link of the drone by emitting strong electromagnetic waves, cutting off the image transmission signal of the remote control, forcing the drone to land or return. 2. Navigation signal interference: emitting strong GPS signals makes it impossible to locate accurately, thus losing navigation capabilities. 3. Navigation deception control: By transmitting false navigation satellite signals or hijacking the radio signals of drones, inducing the drone to fly to the wrong location or directly taking over its control. 4. Interception and capture: Use a capture net or other physical means to directly capture the drone. 5. Direct destruction: Use missiles, laser weapons or microwave weapons to directly destroy drones. Each countermeasure has its scope and limitations. In practical applications, multiple methods need to be selected or combined according to specific circumstances to achieve the best countermeasures effect. Counter-drone operations must comply with relevant laws, regulations and ethical principles to ensure the legality and safety of the operations. #counterdrone #dronejammer
