Very pleased to launch Mental Health First Aid International’s new 6-year strategic plan. Building on our impact across the world over the last 25 years, our new plan reframes our purpose around growing a global movement dedicated to providing evidence-based mental health first aid education for everyone. We look forward to working with all our partners, to enable more people, in more places, to gain practical skills and new confidence to have conversations about mental health.

I’ve just reviewed Mental Health First Aid International‘s new Strategic Plan for 2024-2030. MHFAI aims to equip everyone with skills to support mental health - both their own and others’. The focus is on four key areas: 1. Global expansion: Extending MHFA programs to more countries 2. Quality enhancement: Maintaining high standards and evidence-based practices 3. Organisational strengthening: Building a robust foundation for growth 4. Awareness and advocacy: Promoting MHFA as an essential life skill. The goal is to make mental health first aid as widespread as physical first aid. It’s an impressive plan to foster a more mentally healthy world. As a Mental Health First Aid Instructor, I am excited to do my part to help this strategic plan come to fruition. This is not just about bringing a plan to life, but about what its implementation actually means for people who are struggling with their mental health in silence, surrounded by others who don’t have the knowledge and skills to help save their lives. What are your thoughts? #MentalHealthFirstAid #MHFAI #MentalHealthAwareness #StrategicPlan

Moderating this panel on behalf of Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute was an easy “yes!” because I loved the focus on measurement and quality mental healthcare! The best part was the message that delivering #quality mental healthcare helps ensure more people have access to care! Measurement informed care helps our busy workforce deliver services not only more effectively but also more efficiently…so they can help more people! #innovation #mentalhealth #partnership #BHT2024
Unlocking access to mental health care is important — but so is ensuring that it's the right care. At the Behavioral Health Tech conference this week, Headway executive Olivia Millard Davis joined a panel of industry experts to discuss how to take access a step further — to get the right patients to the right care at the right time. Thank you to Liz Freedman, Frank Webster and Hossam M. for joining us to speak on this topic, and to Kacie Kelly for facilitating the conversation.

There is still a long way to go to reduce the stigma connected to our mental health. There are no perfect solutions. We believe that increasing literacy and practical skills is key to achieving generational change, and that Mental Health First Aid International programs are an effective way to achieve this. Let's do this. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthfirstaid #mhfa

Check out this interesting webinar, jointly organised by 7 huge EU Horizon Europe projects on ‘Mental Health in Times of Change’: 👉 https://lnkd.in/eJnsiM9g Undeniably, co-creation approaches in mental health research are needed to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and what is actually happening in people’s lives. But how is co-creation applied in current research practices? How do Horizon Europe projects ensure that the design and implementation of their co-creation processes benefit their co-creators as much as it benefit them? And what learnings and best practices should these big projects apply moving forward? #mentalhealth #researchimpactEU

As someone who has experienced therapy and greatly believes in the power of being candid and open about mental health, I'm really excited about my new article exploring Betterhelp, the juggernaut online counselling provider. This is the most extensive research I've done for an article to date, exploring the Gen Z skewed marketing, eyebrow raising business practices, data leaks, and ethical concerns attached to a company that promotes itself to the vulnerable. In this piece, I'm asking the concerningly dystopian question: should one have to turn to the morally bankrupt for accessible therapy? 🔗If you're interested in exploring the tumultuous history and present of the biggest online therapy company in the world, the link to read is below: https://lnkd.in/exkcUbHg

Our children are growing up in very different times. Parents need to be aware of the potential negative impact of technology and social media, and know how to manage it effectively. We can't reverse the direction of technological advancement, and we can't stop our children from using technology. Personally, I believe the habits and relationship that we build with our children from young and the ongoing connection we maintain in different forms as they grow, will help to make a difference. A strong parent-child relationship helps the child develop a healthy sense of self, so they won't be swayed by comparisons or judgment on social media. A strong relationship also means the child will feel safe to share with their parents whenever they come across something that makes them uncomfortable, instead of coping with it alone or depending on peers who are equally lost or immature. Join this free virtual event to equip yourselves!
🆓 Free Virtual Event on Social Media and its impact on children mental health! The US Surgeon General's warning that there should be warning labels on social media platform is scary! This is an event brought about by International Medical Clinic, American Association of Singapore and Stamford American International School, Singapore as we come together to highlight to others on social media and its issues. Come join us as we discuss the problems but also give Practical Tips on how to manage our children's relationship with their phones and mental health.
