"So... tell me about yourself" Perhaps the biggest trip-up for those coming from non-traditional backgrounds 🤦♂️ Because it's NOT a time to exhaustively share your life story! Remember, the company has a PROBLEM that needs solving and a JOB that needs filling. They really don't care about anything else 😅 So they won't care that you operated X machinery while in the military, or earned Y certification for food handling, yada yada yada It's all about ABSTRACTING that experience and succinctly TRANSLATING it into terms they can understand If that's a struggle for you, check out my latest interview with career-transitioner Courtney Azar about how she rephrased her PAST experience so that it was relatable to FUTURE employers 👉 https://lnkd.in/gFMq8kgQ Any good examples of how you've rephrased your non-tech experience? #programming #jobsearch #softwareengineering

Simplify things for the best outcome
Entry Level roles means ZERO experience needed! These roles should not require 1-3 years of experience, It requires people who are motivated, eager to learn, have good attitude and you're giving them the push to start their career!

I am puzzled as to why individuals with Bachelor's and Master's degrees find it so challenging to secure employment. Wasn't the purpose of pursuing higher education to obtain better job opportunities or a fulfilling career, rather than just hanging the degree on the wall? It seems that to gain experience in a new field, individuals must apply and hope for a chance, but it appears that the only way to be considered is if one has 12 to 20+ years of experience. How does this requirement make sense? Please, help me understand this hiring process.

4 years ago, I took a chance. Hired a fresh college grad with ZERO experience. At 22, he started as a Customer Success Manager. No fancy resume. No years of experience. Just raw potential. We skipped the "traditional" route. Didn't headhunt an industry veteran. Didn't poach from competitors. Instead, we bet on hunger. On the drive to learn. On the willingness to grow. 4 years later? He's leading a team successfully. Innovating. Constantly pushing his comfort zone. Our company is thriving because of his efforts. Here's what I've learned: 1. Paper qualifications are overrated. 2. Potential beats experience. 3. Internal growth creates loyalty. The best hires often come from unexpected places. They're the ones who see obstacles as opportunities. Who turn inexperience into innovation. So next time you're hiring? Look beyond the resume. Bet on potential. You might just find your next superstar. Curtis Schick, you've proven that taking a chance on potential pays off big time.

I do not understand how an entry level position requires 2+ years of experience. WHY ? if every company required candidates to have 2+ years experience then how do they expect people who do not have experience to gain experience? since when has the market and hiring managers become this delusional ? i remember when entry level meant 0 -2 years experience.

Entry-level jobs require zero years of experience Not one or two No years of experience That’s why it’s called “entry-level”. It’s to kickstart one’s career and grow from there Why are you requesting 1-2 years for an entry-level role?
