'If staff needs aren’t considered, the benefits outlined in NHS England’s Frontline Digitisation programme will be difficult to realise... We need to treat an EPR as a long-term project, ensuring that our people are engaged and considered throughout the project life cycle. If their needs aren’t factored, providers will find it difficult to realise the benefits outlined in the Frontline Digitisation programme.' Great piece written by John Llewellyn At Integrella, we see all the time how much staff involvement fosters a sense of ownership and buy-in towards the transformation process. When employees feel included and engaged, they are more likely to embrace changes and adopt new technologies effectively. https://lnkd.in/e9bz6ue5

Great article! I agree 100%, having completed many tenders, the only questions asked that tend to be people-centric are "Is training provided?" and "Will post go-live support be included?". I've never seen questions such as "Is the user interface designed for users with varying needs?" Having spent a decade or more implementing enterprise solutions for the NHS, something often missed is explaining the "why" to our users and ensuring they understand the vision so they are bought into the solution not just part of it. We should spend time advertising the benefits that resonate directly with the individual user. In many circumstances, I've seen solutions make one user group's job harder but another's significantly easier, but the trade-off is never discussed openly. People matter.
In partnership with NHS Confederation, we've been exploring the challenges, realities and innovations in frontline digitisation in the NHS. We've spoken to a range of digital leaders about their experiences of planning and implementing digital transformation programmes - and there's one thing they all have in common. That people, not technology, are the key to success. In this insightful article, John Llewellyn, Chief Digital and Information Officer at NHS Cheshire and Merseyside, argues that if staff needs aren’t considered, the benefits outlined in NHS England's Frontline Digitisation programme will be difficult to realise. We have teamed up with Ethical Healthcare Consulting to publish a new report ‘Frontline digitisation: creating the conditions for a digital NHS’ highlighting the issues faced by ICBs in implementing digital programs across the NHS. The report details what the NHS needs to make this work in the long-term including: - fewer core targets - flexibility - quality training and support for staff - more capital funding for digital infrastructure - longer-term, multi-year funding cycles.

User forums are always special. Hearing how the NHS uses Nervecentre to transform care inspires and motivates us. This year’s user forum will be especially rewarding. It’s been a monumental few months with 4 trusts signing long-term EPR contracts with us. Around one-quarter of this year’s capacity audience will be at the start of their Nervecentre journey. They’ll hear how other trusts are tackling common NHS challenges, such as reducing paper, streamlining workflows, and improving collaboration. Virtual wards, care plans, EPS, and real-time EPMA dashboards are on the agenda. Stacey Hatton, RN MSc Health IT CDH-L will share how University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust identified more than 1,000 paper records for digitisation. William Monaghan and Mark Simmonds will discuss a groundbreaking regional collaboration that is set to transform care at scale. Plus, we’ll be on hand to showcase our latest EPR capabilities and future plans. We look forward to seeing you there. #virtualwards #nhs #epma #epr #digitaltransformation
