Have you recently hired a Veteran? How are they doing? Might they need some encouragement and/or constructive feedback? For example, Veterans have a bias for action and tend to be task oriented, so he/she may lean in too quickly and make recommendations before people are ready to hear them. More than likely, co-workers will: a) shoot him/her down because the idea has been tried before and failed, b) dismiss him/her because they’re new and don’t know the business, or c) think it’s interesting but still dismiss him/her because they are new If this happens to one of your Veteran employees, please offer feedback - sooner rather than later. Veterans are used to receiving feedback, respond well to coaching and want to do the right thing. Please do your part to help them succeed. Love this post!! If you want to learn more, join us for Veteran Talent Academy, April 24th, 830am-1130am!! Have you ever learned you were doing something incorrectly for a long time and no one told you? How did that make you feel? Probably not great, and perhaps left you wondering why no one told you earlier!! What I would add to what Lt. Col. (Ret) Kathy Lowrey Gallowitz said is that this recommendation is great not only for Veterans, but all employees!! Giving early, constructive feedback to all of your employees is valuable. Veterans are just better trained to accept and act on it, but in my experience, when delivered early, often and constructively, can really help Everyone better navigate the workplace to achieve success!!! #leadershiplessons #veteransarebiasedforaction #feedbackisagift #recruitdifferently #hireveterans

Transitioning from the Military I Lead Infantry Advisor & Warrant Officer Class 2 | Infantry Tactics, Risk Management, Security Analysis | I Help Organisations Enhance Operational Effectiveness and Training Outcomes
Op NEXT CHAPTER I believe that the most critical skills to bring with me from military life into the civilian world are those that have the potential to change the way they are employed in a civilian organisation as the journey progresses. 1. Small victories: Commend team members who have achieved small victories and celebrate them. The building blocks for the end products are established by the small wins. 2. Time: The currency that major organisations typically deal in is time. In my opinion, the military frequently makes this error as a result of the pressures from above. It is essential to provide your team with realistic timelines in order to avoid setting them up for failure. The 1/3 - 2/3 rule is frequently referenced, but it is seldom executed effectively, as veterans and those who are currently serving are aware. 3. Failure: Let go of your fear of failure. Failing is an inevitable evolution toward success. In an effort to prevent the recurrence of past errors, it is crucial to learn from them and to mitigate the issues that occurred. Given your experience as veterans, which abilities have you implemented into your future endeavors and how have you modified them?

I'm curious to know if there would be any interest out there to use Modern Kriegsspiel as a tool for Management training and Team Bonding exercises? I've become a bit of an expert in the modern revamp of the old wargaming system known as Kriegsspiel. I'm putting together a business plan and all input is welcome. Kriegsspiel was the system used by the 19th Century Prussian Army to train their officers in the art of commanding their troops on campaign and in battle. Old Kriegsspiel required a lot of time and people to run it effectively, but new updated systems still working on the core principles of Kriegsspiel (Double-Blind and Human driven) can be run much quicker and without so many participants. New systems can and have been adapted to run not only military, but other scenarios that require teamwork and decision making.
