Pretty much everyone saw this coming....right? Microsoft Copilot AI exposing massive amounts of company confidential information to eyes that shouldn't see it.... simply because human beings are bad at adequately setting permissions. Like this article says, with great power, comes great responsibility. Using AI to index 'all the things' is very helpful, but before you switch that Copilot button on, make sure you have classified all your data, set the appropriate permissions and have appropriate controls and regular training in place for your workforce. More data breaches for Microsoft this time for #AI users. This evening’s post is to share this post by Alistair Ross’s post on the lastest issues for Microsoft and their #ai tool. 🔸Intial thoughts: At this point, I almost feel bad, for bringing up these issues they are experiencing. But when a company stuffs up, it’s important to talk about and learn from. Microsoft also choose to race forward in the AI space. Which I gave up trying to it keep fresh. On top of all that there is basic security/privacy issues. With all the telemetry Microsoft sends back to thier servers in thier products. If Microsoft researched #skynet tomorrow.. I’m at the point where I’m tempted not to talk about it. Or possibly, put every ounce of effort into trying to find a positive. ..Yay no more work! I’m joking.. but I am wondering if should I talk about the next one and how? There is strong insensitive to talk about them as people care about this. Microsoft problems are great for engagement metrics. But it’s also.. eh. However, we should not let big tech get away with this stuff. Even if a few extra people become aware of this .. And we all take a moment to think before throwing more money at big tech to solve our problems.. instead of doing it for ourselves..
