I often wonder if those who came up with the MYHR strategy understood how the commercial brain works and what drives these companies. Expecting everyone to get onboard and invest in this MYHR for the good of the patient may have been a little naive . Having an interoperability strategy that expects patients to ask for their data to be uploaded every time they visit a provider is not going to work where time is money. As a result no one in Australia has a connected longitudinal health record in 2024. With clean connected data now more critical than ever it’s time to realise this strategy has failed all Australians and throwing good money after bad isn’t going to fix it. We need a strategy that gives patients their data at the point of care wherever they go using standards and it needs to be legislated. Time to get tough! #strategy He states that “episodic approaches don’t provide the breadth of data necessary for an evidence-based approach to quality care.” Access to and use of longitudinal records is particularly important for patients with chronic conditions, as the independent physician can quickly access important clinical data to help manage chronic conditions and easily schedule follow-up appointments to address any potential gaps in care.
