In the dynamic world of field sales, every interaction offers a chance to learn something new. Today, I had the privilege of meeting an incredible retailer with over 20 years of experience running a successful store. His insights were not only profound but also incredibly simple and effective. I asked him to share his wisdom in one sentence, and his response was both enlightening and humbling: "Be humble, treat people with respect, and you're almost there. Looking towards my network to answer a question that raised its head last night, if you have two minutes, please? Lance Tueller is the epitome of transferable skills (Just take a look at his profile) and it surprised me to find out that one of the cycle industry's most famous brands in helmets and clothing didn't recognise his value for a role they recently posted in USA. He has the skills and experience for the role they posted. Genuinely, he's a strong candidate and should have at least progressed to final stages of interview! However, they saw his time out of the bike industry as a negative factor. So much so, that they didn't progress him beyond initial "Hello" interview! 🤯 So why is it that some brands see a move from one industry, as a negative asset? It doesn't mean that you lose touch with what's going on - it just means that you're intelligent enough to understand what's going on in *other* industries too! So, would you hire somebody that had been outside of your industry for a while, if they could show previous experience of the role? If so, why? If not, also why? Lance Tueller is a man that's available to hire, operating out of Colorado. Having worked with him up-close and personally on previous endeavours, I can say first-hand that you'd do well to contact him!
