📰 JLL Markets Perspective: Technology Industry 📰 The technology industry in the U.S. and Canada saw a wave of job growth from 2019-2023 as companies ramped up hiring in response to increased demand for their products and services. While New York and Dallas-Fort Worth led in total jobs added, Canadian markets such as Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal were all amongst the top 10 fastest growing tech markets. Vancouver saw the fastest growth of any major market across Canada and the U.S., adding over 30,000 tech industry jobs during this time, representing a 68% increase. Canada's immigration policies for tech workers including a startup visa program, lower operating costs, and strong talent base are driving its tech industry growth. Although software and internet jobs have started to plateau in 2024, Vancouver and Toronto are both expected to see an additional 10,000 or more tech jobs added over the next 5 years, expanding on an already prospering Canadian tech market.
