Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, announced a global rollout enabling users to download public Reels directly to their devices. Previously limited to saving Reels within the app, this feature expansion offers more flexibility. Downloaded Reels will sport an Instagram watermark, including the account name, similar to TikTok's format. To save a Reel, users can tap the share button and choose the download option. Accounts can control this feature through Settings > Privacy > Reels and Remix, toggling the "Allow people to download your Reels" option. If a downloaded Reel uses a licensed audio clip, the video will be silent. Sound is retained only for Reels with original audio tracks. Instagram initiated Reels download for U.S. users in June, expanding the capability globally. Mosseri highlighted this update on his Instagram channel, emphasizing Instagram's commitment to user-friendly features. As platforms evolve, Instagram maintains a balance between innovation and user control. #Instagram #SocialMedia #Updates #Reels #Download
