As we wrap up International Women's Month, I find myself reflecting on the urgency of now. This month has been profoundly inspiring, filled with stories of incredible women in my professional network. Yet, our celebrations are bittersweet, as the all-too-familiar undertone is always present—the systemic challenges that continue to hold back too many talented women in the workplace.
At Intel, we're driven by a commitment to improving the life of every person on the planet, and that includes creating a more inclusive and equitable work environment. My professional journey at Intel has been significantly shaped by the incredible women leaders, mentors, and colleagues I've had the privilege to work alongside. Witnessing even a fraction of the challenges they've overcome to grasp their opportunities has been inspiring, enlightening, saddening, infuriating, and a privilege. Their resilience and achievements also serve, unfortunately, as a profound reminder of the almost certain significant loss—of leadership, innovation, and transformative change—we all suffer when women are not supported in reaching their full potential.
The potential lost to gender disparities isn't just about the future; it's what we're missing out on now. How many senior executives, leading technologists, influential leaders, and thought experts are we failing to advance because of systemic biases? The cost isn't just individual; it's about the collective innovation and advancement we miss out on. Reflecting on the global challenges we face, the urgency for inclusion couldn't be more clear.
This International Women's Month, my call to action extends to everyone in my network:
♦️ Join and support your Women's Employee Resource Group, regardless of your gender identity. Intel Employees - goto/WIN
♦️ For the men in my network, let 2024 be the year you are an ally for NOW. Recognize, advocate, fully engage, and support women at every level in your workplace – including your peers and leaders.
In Robert Noyce’s words, “Don’t be encumbered by history, just go out and do something wonderful.” As Co-Chair of the WIN Board at Intel, I witnessed the transformative power of collective action this month. Let's pledge to do more, to dismantle barriers, and to cultivate a workplace where every woman has the opportunity to thrive. Because when women thrive, we all do – both individually and together.
