It was a great honor for me to represent GE HealthCare at the World Health Assembly in Geneva a couple of weeks ago. Here are some takeaways: 1) PPPs allow for pooling of resources and funding to accelerate innovation. PPPs combine public health expertise and private sector innovation. This can accelerate the development and deployment of AI technologies. Governments can provide funding and incentives, while private companies can invest in cutting-edge research and development. Private companies are often at the forefront of AI technology. Collaborating with them can help integrate the latest advancements into public health strategies, ensuring the most up-to-date solutions are used. 2) Gaining scale - both in terms of dataset size & scalability of solutions Public health systems often have vast amounts of patient data, which are crucial for training AI algorithms. Partnerships can facilitate secure and ethical access to these datasets, ensuring AI solutions are robust and accurate. Public health systems have the infrastructure to scale solutions broadly. Partnerships can ensure that AI tools developed by private companies are implemented at scale, reaching larger populations. 3) Making it real - Regulatory support & adoption Governments can streamline regulatory processes to bring AI solutions to market more quickly, while private companies can ensure compliance with health standards and regulations. Health moves at the speed of trust. In healthcare it is essential that AI systems are developed with ethical considerations at their core, prioritizing patient well-being and ensuring robust data privacy and security measures. Government involvement can help build public trust in AI solutions, addressing concerns about privacy and ethics, and promoting wider acceptance and adoption. We at GE HealthCare are heavily investing in R&D for AI technologies, focusing on creating advanced diagnostic and therapeutic tools. We are leveraging partnerships with academic institutions, biotech firms, and health systems to stay at the cutting edge. We are developing AI tools that are easily integrated into clinical workflows. The best AI is the one that is not visible, that is seamlessly integrated into the respective workflows doing the magic in the background. As a leader in medical imaging, we are pioneering AI applications in radiology and imaging to improve diagnostic accuracy and efficiency. Leveraging our global presence to implement AI solutions across diverse healthcare settings, including partnerships aimed at addressing health disparities in underserved regions. Together with our partners we create a world where healthcare has no limits. video credit: World Health Organization #gehealthcare #AI #digitalhealth #PPP #healthcare
