Terrible news that Women Who Code has to close down due to a lack of funding. How can this be in a world where women are needed even more in all industries and especially the tech sector where technologies such as AI have to be shaped by both genders to truly benefit society? "As a community, we are powerful. For more than a decade, Women Who Code has created a sense of belonging in tech and support for our community, thanks to the dedication and commitment of our members, volunteers, and staff. We have brought together a vibrant community of over 360,000 technologists who deeply care about building an industry that is more diverse, inclusive, and equitable. Today, more than 1,000 volunteers lead local and digital communities, members in 145 countries worldwide give technical talks daily to share knowledge and mentor each other, and a close-knit globally distributed team at WWCode HQ drives the day to day operations. Together, we’ve delivered more than 20 thousand community-led events, awarded more than $3.5 million in scholarships, held developer conferences and technical summits in tech hubs around the world, logged more than one million high-skilled, leadership-building volunteer hours, given away more than $2.5 million in conference tickets for broader industry engagement, and shared more than 14,000 job opportunities. Even more than these trackable outputs, we’ve come together to support each other, navigate the industry as a powerful force, share both technical protips and strategies for rising in our careers, and break barriers." #womenwhocode #womenintech Pls read their full press release below: https://lnkd.in/edMar9bQ

Tech is a male dominated industry. My journey into Tech has been heavily impacted by connecting with some of the Smartest, Coolest, and Funniest women here on LinkedIn. 🎯 Helping women in STEM & tech to get unstuck in their career and move forwards to a place where they have a plan & love working again | Career Confidence & Development Coaching
So, what does a job in tech look like? It certainly is not only sitting behind a screen and coding! Last night I join WWCode (Edinburgh chapter) for a interesting evening finding out about alternative careers in tech. The fireside-style chat definitely highlighted the range of possibilities, with the speakers ranging from... 🖋 Technical authoring 📲 Product management 🤳 UI & UX Product designer 🎯 Talent acquisition & employee experience What was apparent is that many jobs in tech don't rely on a degree in software, data or cyber security. There are also... 🗣 Blah Blah jobs and 💻 Tick Tick jobs Who knew?! There was a definite experience of women being in the minority, but in general it was recognised that self belief was a key part to improving the overall wellbeing of women in the sector. Thanks to Stephanie Boyle for hosting and for Emily M., Suzy Sutherland, Amy Gallacher and Ellen Covey for your enthusiasm and honest discussions. #womenintech #careercoachingforwomen 🎯Working with aspiring female leaders in software, tech & data to stop feeling stuck and become confident members of the leadership landscape in a career they love.

Want the secret to a successful tech team? Blend diversity into your tech team, you'll be surprised how much it does! As for students and new workers, here is how you can help with that: 🔸 Break Your Echo Chamber - Engage with peers from different backgrounds, disciplines, and experiences. Learn about their unique perspectives on technology. 🔸 Inclusion Through Collaboration - When we work on group projects or hackathons, let's consciously include people who are different from us. 🔸 Mentor and Be Mentored - Find mentors beyond your immediate circle - people who can offer different perspectives. And be willing to mentor others, sharing your knowledge. 🔸 Empower Underrepresented Voices - Whether it's through sharing their work, advocating for their ideas, or supporting their initiatives. 🔸 Champion Diverse Hiring - Encourage recruiters and HR teams to cast a wider net and appreciate a broader spectrum of talents and skills. 🔸 Continuous Learning - Stay committed to learning and unlearning. Keep educating yourself about the evolving dynamics of tech diversity. Let this be more than a checklist. Let's start today, let's start now. #SoftwareDevelopment #Software #Coding #RemoteWork #DutyVentures — If you think that this post is interesting, please 👍 Like and ♻️ Repost!
