When I took a pause on my corporate 9-5 journey and picked up on SimBal Studios full time in April 2024 as a sibling-led venture with just two people, we knew the road ahead would be challenging but rewarding. Fast forward to the end of 2024, and we’ve grown into a dynamic team of 10 young, talented individuals—all driven by passion and creativity. This growth didn’t come without its share of hard decisions, long hours, and moments of uncertainty. 2024 has taught me three invaluable lessons: patience, to let things unfold in their time; determination, to keep moving forward despite the challenges; and confidence, to trust in my ability to make decisions, even the tough ones that couldn’t be delayed. Looking ahead to 2025, my focus is clear: to sustain the momentum we’ve built, deepen our passion for the work we do, and embrace the joy of the journey. It’s also a reminder to prioritize what matters most—spending meaningful time with family and finding balance in all that I do. Here’s to another year of innovation, growth, and purpose—one where we work smarter, enjoy every milestone, and keep pushing the boundaries of what SimBal Studios can achieve. How We avoid wasting resources after kickoff: The bigger the studio The bigger the need for efficiency. We co-develop for some huge studios over the last 8 years and have seen prolonged pre-production cycles. They can lead to: - Delayed milestones - High opportunity costs - Lack of a feedback loop Our team's parallel work approach allows us to: - Deliver initial concepts in about 2-4 weeks - Streamline the pre-production phase (duration varies by project) - Move into full production faster than anticipated At UGI, we kickstart projects in the following way: 1/ Set a kickoff meeting to lay the foundation 2/ Sync goals & expectations with each client 3/ Efficiently allocate specialized resources for art, game, Q&A as needed 4/ Analyze similar games, provide 3x art style options 5/ Test early gameplay to ensure perfect fits For casual and mid-core games, we iterate fast. Though we're not as rapid as some hypercasual studios. We get client feedback that we are a fast partner. The reason in my opinion? 1) Moving step by step. 2) Syncing expectations often.
