Successful leaders don't leave their leadership style to chance. They reflect on their self-perception and also gather feedback from others. Enhancing your leadership presence will be essential to transitioning from technical expert to strategic leader. This will increase your team's innovation, productivity, and harmony while remaining aligned with the company’s values. These results don't happen by chance; instead, they result from targeted reflection and a measurable growth plan to accelerate your leadership impact. How many managers have you worked under who only considered their own agenda and weren’t dedicated to team health or development?? How did this affect your productivity? Or did it lead you to look for another position? Now that you are in a leadership position on a team, you have a responsibility to rewrite the script. Foster an environment of innovation and curiosity. Allow space for your team to become true stakeholders in the success of projects. Learn to balance project timelines with new ideas. And, be very clear with yourself about the type of leader you want to be.

Crafting a unifying vision stands as a pivotal skill for leaders. A concise, impactful, and motivational vision possesses an almost enchanting quality, fostering unity throughout an organization, rallying teams around a shared objective, and serving as a focal point for strategic development towards a brighter future. Regrettably, the task of envisioning is often confined to the upper echelons of leadership, leaving managers in the rest of the organization on the periphery. As an emerging leader, there exist three prime opportunities for you to engage in vision creation: Contribute to Senior Leaders' Vision Work: Collaborate with senior leadership to contribute your insights and perspectives to the overarching vision of the company. This involvement not only showcases your commitment to the organization's success but also positions you as a valuable contributor to its strategic direction. Translate the Company's Vision for Your Team: Act as a bridge between top-level leadership and your team by translating the company's vision into actionable goals and aspirations that resonate with your team members. This not only ensures alignment but also demonstrates your ability to communicate and execute strategic objectives at the grassroots level. Develop a New Front-Line Team Vision: Take the initiative to create a vision for your front-line team, encapsulating their unique strengths, aspirations, and contributions. This bottom-up approach can create a powerful vision that resonates across all levels of the organization, fostering a sense of ownership and commitment among team members. Embracing these vision-creation opportunities can significantly accelerate your professional growth, paving the way for increased responsibilities and leadership roles in the future. Seize these moments to not only contribute to the success of the organization but also to carve a path for your own advancement.

Moving from start-up to the scale-up phase, leaders need to change their management style. From a recent interview I had with a Founder, one of their most challenging times as a leader was when they started to scale their organisation. As the Founder with a small team, wearing multiple hats and being very close to all areas of the business, they could lead how they liked to be managed. Hands-off, they could dip in and out of things quickly and as needed. When they started to build larger teams and management layers, they had to change the way they managed people and teams. They realised that for others, this was a job rather than a mission and that required a different type of leadership. They had to bring in more regular and structured team meetings, develop career development plans, project pipelines and different models to get the best out of people. This was due to the teams becoming more focused and siloed. Investors wanted more detailed and regular reporting to understand business performance. The shift in management and leadership approach needs to evolve with the organisation as it grows and develops constantly. How are you checking in on whether your leadership style is fit for purpose?

3 signs that you’re leadership material Instead of waiting for your manager to see your potential as a leader Why not create the opportunity for yourself? One of the most common questions I get when helping my clients enhance their leadership skills is “Do I have what it takes to be a good leader?” (psst…if you’re asking this question, you likely already are) It shows you care even though you may doubt your capabilities. Here are 3 signs of great leadership: 1️⃣ You’re emotionally in tune with others → you genuinely care about others → not just going through the motions to check a box 2️⃣ You’re willing to make mistakes and get better → you see failures as opportunities for growth → both for yourself and those around you 3️⃣ You’re a “we” vs. “me” thinker and doer → your idea of winning is when everyone wins → encouraging others comes naturally Don’t forget — You’ve done a lot of good in your career to get to this point. If becoming a leader is important to you It’s not about whether you have what it takes It’s about deciding to make it happen and then… Taking action. What other signs of leadership do you love? P.S. “Don’t choose a job, choose a manager” is all over my feed. To an extent, I agree. To the same extent, I disagree. Why? That manager is likely considering the same advice, which means they very well could leave and follow their manager outside of the business, which means they won’t be there for long and now have the choice to: a) bring you with them b) leave you behind Either way, you’re in a predicament if that was your main criteria for accepting the role. So, an alternative way of exploring opportunities is to uncover what leadership development looks like at your target company. What systems are in place in the organization that made that manager a leader worth following? What is the average time spent in role for managers at that level? How are leaders coached to coach? How is the organization collecting and responding to employee feedback? Are those systems scaled company wide? These all seem like fair questions to ask when exploring your next opportunity. Yes, follow the leader… But, also do your best to uncover what role the organization played in creating and amplifying that leader. If you like what you uncover, then you’ll likely find a lot of others leaders there worth following.

Helping Managers Cultivate a Coaching Mindset | Host of The Straight Up Living Podcast | Writer | Certified Integrative Coach| Inspiring others to conquer self-imposed limits | Nomad
If you want to be a manager, then step one is asking yourself this question: “Why do I want to do it?” ➡️ Self-awareness is crucial, because the answer to this question will reveal whether you view leadership as an act of service or simply as a position of status and power. ➡️ True leadership isn’t about authority and control—it's about serving others, helping your team grow, and guiding them to reach goals—theirs as well as those of the business. ➡️ Your motivation for pursuing a management role will shape your approach to leadership. If your goal is to serve others, uplift your team, and be a positive influence, then you're on the right path. ➡️ When your purpose is rooted in service, you create an environment where people feel valued, motivated, and empowered. ➡️ Being a manager isn't just about overseeing tasks. It’s about inspiring others, creating an atmosphere of collaboration, and leading by example. So, before you take on the role of a manager, ask yourself, “Am I ready to serve?”

Organizational Alchemist & Catalyst for Operational Excellence: Turning Team Dynamics into Pure Gold | Sales & Business Trainer @ UEC Business Consulting
Last week, we received a bold request from one of our executive M&A clients: develop an intensive leadership training for their executive team. Think of it as Leadership 2.0. The hard-hitting skills that the average industry training program doesn't provide. The unfiltered, raw, real leadership lessons that drive true success. Our client came to us because they were tired of the same old leadership fluff. They didn't want recycled theories or feel-good exercises. They wanted real results. They needed a program that could handle the brutal realities of M&A—a world where decisions are made in the blink of an eye, and hesitation can cost millions. So we rolled up our sleeves and got to work. We dissected their challenges, understanding the pressures their executives face daily. We crafted a no-nonsense program, cutting through the BS to deliver exactly what they needed. No sugarcoating, no fluff—just practical, actionable strategies that work in the real world. We focused on strategic planning, effective communication up and down the chain of command, and making decisive moves even when the ground is shifting beneath your feet. This was about instilling a mindset of relentless accountability and disciplined execution. And we didn't stop there. We integrated feedback loops and action items to ensure continuous improvement. We made sure every lesson was grounded in the realities of M&A, tailored to their specific needs and goals. Our client-first approach meant we delivered not just what they wanted, but what they truly needed. The best part? I get to deliver it one on one to a pack of true business sharks this morning. No BS. Zero fluff. Just unfiltered, raw leadership that drives real success. Let’s GO!
