1 in every 10 women lives in extreme poverty. If we continue on a business-as-usual path, over 340 million women and girls will still languish in extreme poverty by 2030. #CSW68 #InvestInWomen Let me leave you with a familiar though important message, namely that: with power comes responsibility. You – particularly the decision-makers – are especially well positioned to use your influence in the next two weeks to drive lasting, impactful and positive change for women and girls worldwide. Government and its initiatives towards shaping women literacy rate NGOs—a connecting link between community and the government, enabling effective use of resources. Government fundings support NGOs in spreading awareness about education, supporting schools & providing scholarships. This involvement ensures political and social independence to the women, reducing inequality. lt is crucial to break off the cycle of illiteracy & poverty. From 2010-2021, the female literacy rate increased by 14.4% and on a year-on-year basis, it's increasing by 0.6% in 2021. Together it is bringing remarkable changes in women's literacy rates. Does your project emphasize better financial inclusion for women and girls? Well, it should! In nearly all surveys, women's financial literacy is measured as being lower than men's - but a little education at the right time can easily close that gap. It's why we created the Closing The Gender Gap Special Category at the MAIAs - to find and celebrate the best work being done to change this. Find out more at buff.ly/3I61eoP.

Do you wonder what you can do to support #iwd2024? Yeah, me too. I reckon one of the best things you can do is to encourage and praise some of the great work that is already being done. 1. Nominate a #FinancialInclusion project you think is helping women close the money gender gap. 2. Tell some women-run #FinancialEducation and #FinancialLiteracy organisations that you think they could win a prize at The Money Awareness and Inclusion Awards. enter.maiawards.org

International Women's Day | March 8th ✨ On this significant day, we respond to the call from UN Women to address how we #InvestInWomen to ensure their access to education. Menstrual poverty stands out as a significant challenge, acting as a barrier for women and girls in attending schools and workplaces. Investing in women involves eliminating these obstacles, paving the way for a world free from bias. This mission is championed by Lasallian Women of Hope, which initially began as a grassroots empowerment project for women. Today, it operates in over 5 countries, delivering creative, effective, and enduring solutions to address educational inequities for girls and women. 💪🌍 https://lnkd.in/dJuQw76m

Empowering women economically is a pathway to equality. At the current rate of progress, it is estimated that 8% of the global female population will be living in extreme poverty in 2030. Women, their communities and the world 🌍 cannot afford to wait. We need #GenderEqualEconomies now.

🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 The Generation Equality Accountability Report, launched at CSW68, highlights the power of collective action in driving economic justice and rights🙌🏽. Learn how Generation Equality is making strides🙌🏽🪷
Collective action drives change for economic justice and rights, as evident in the #GenerationEquality Accountability Report of the Economic Justice and Rights Action Coalition that was launched this week at #CSW68. Now more than ever, it is essential to support women's rights and empowerment. The report demonstrates, through compelling evidence, how Commitment Makers advance women's economic empowerment: 📚 440 programmes have been reported to be implemented, along with 135 policies and 406 advocacy initiatives. 👏 83% of commitments are being implemented through new or expanded partnerships, underlining the importance of collective action for achieving #genderequality. 💵 Close to US$33B have been pledged of which US$15B have been secured, showcasing that economic justice and rights are a major area for investment. However, all sectors need to double their efforts. Today, 1 in every 10 women still lives in extreme poverty, and projections indicate 342 million women and girls will not have moved out of extreme poverty by 2030 unless we shift current trends. Read more on how Generation Equality is pushing the needle: https://lnkd.in/dkrJZPvJ Dr Jemimah Njuki Let’s #investinwomen to drive change!
