Implementing #ZeroTrust in software services companies presents unique challenges due to the diverse nature of their projects. These companies provide development services across various sectors, each with distinct infrastructure requirements. These requirements span not just hardware but also #software assets, cloud resources, #API access, internet access, #VPN access, and #cloudrepository access. Additionally, there's a need to manage security requirements for continuous #integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, #development and #staging environments, production environments, #datastorage, and collaboration tools. Measuring the success of a Zero Trust implementation involves evaluating various metrics and indicators to ensure that the strategy effectively enhances security, minimizes risks and improve enduser experience. Please check the pdf for key metrics and methods to assess the success of a Zero Trust implementation.

IT Problem Solver | Director, AI Infrastructure @ Ignite | Delivering Options | Optimizing Costs | Accelerating Deployments
When onboarding a new customer at Ignite, our AI infrastructure team starts by assessing their needs—capacity, rack density, location, connectivity. Beyond the technical aspects, one important topic often comes up: certifications. One of the most critical is FedRAMP. What is FedRAMP? FedRAMP, or Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program, is a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud services. Its purpose is to ensure cloud service providers meet consistent standards for security, risk management, and data privacy, allowing them to work with federal agencies securely. Why Does It Matter? Federal agencies deal with highly sensitive information. FedRAMP ensures data centers maintain strict security and privacy standards, providing confidence that sensitive government data is protected. FedRAMP helps classify the levels of risk, ensuring that different data—from high-security intelligence to non-sensitive records—are handled appropriately. The Process Becoming FedRAMP certified is no easy task. It can take anywhere from 6 to 18 months, involving third-party assessments that cover infrastructure, security practices, and even employee protocols. Since people are often the weak link in data security, FedRAMP ensures both technology and human elements are properly managed. FedRAMP is based on NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) guidelines, setting high standards for redundancy, security, and ongoing monitoring. Certification isn’t a one-time event but involves continuous monitoring to ensure compliance is maintained over time. Why Pursue FedRAMP? Not every data center needs FedRAMP certification. It requires a significant commitment of time and resources. But for those that do, the reward is substantial: access to federal contracts and a clear differentiation in the marketplace. It’s a strategic investment that opens doors to new opportunities. Some data centers already have alternative certifications that are close to FedRAMP standards, allowing a faster path to certification. For others, the journey is longer, but the outcome is worth it—positioning them to serve high-value federal customers. Bottom Line FedRAMP certification is a strategic decision. It opens opportunities to work with federal agencies, ensuring high standards of security, privacy, and risk management. If your infrastructure needs a FedRAMP-certified partner or you’re considering how this aligns with your growth strategy, let’s connect. Feel free to reach out to me here to set up a meeting. Let’s explore how secure and scalable solutions can support your mission. Thanks for checking this out. Get out there, do great things, inspire folks, and be kind.

As it seems, a single software update has caused global havoc. I hope you've got everything back on track 🤞. For those of you who are worry that a similar scenario might affect your operations and business somewhere down the line, I would like to open a discussion on avoiding or minimizing the impact should a similar situation repeat. All of these have been learned the hard way over the years in consulting or passed on from talented IT folks. If you have other insights, do not hesitate to share here or send me a message. #1 Being dependent on any one platform, server, or vendor can pose a threat. Switching between these more or less painlessly should remain an option. #2 Relying solely on the cloud is probably not the safest solution either. The willingness to adopt hybrid infrastructures, has prevented many potential disasters. #3 Standardized processes and automated delivery help immensely. #4 Never deploy anything in production on demand. Staging can be complicated and time-consuming, but proper testing is the only way to go. This is really just an excerpt, if you find something annoying, I look forward to your comments. I'm glad to see some organizations have already dealt with the situation successfully, reducing the impact on their customers, people expecting public services, etc. Hopefully, this can be contained quickly. #automation #hybridIT #compliance #NoVendorLockIn
