If it’s worth doing then it’s worth doing well. Repetitive tasks in mature, slow changing and high risk environments demand compliance. Not creativity. It requires rigid compliance with best practice and standard operating procedures. Efficiency beats disruption here. This applies to areas as diverse as air traffic control , operating nuclear power plants , navigating commercial planes or cargo ships and mining. That’s why innovation is slow here. The consequences of getting it wrong are life threatening on a mass scale. It’s why we need BOTH a Growth AND a fixed mindset.

What Will the World Look Like in 2034? As we look to the future, some global experts are projecting a world facing both incredible challenges and significant transformations. According to a recent survey by the Atlantic Council, nearly 300 leading strategists from around the world weighed in on what they believe the next decade holds. The results? A mix of concern and cautious optimism. Here are the key insights shaping our global future: 🔴 Geopolitical Shifts: Experts foresee a world becoming more multipolar, with the U.S. retaining military dominance but facing growing competition from China, Russia, and regional powers. The Russia-Ukraine conflict may influence Russia's future trajectory, with potential internal instability and a significant shift in its political landscape. 🌱 Climate Change: Widely considered the greatest threat to global prosperity, experts believe climate change will drive international cooperation—though doubts persist about significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. Will we see geoengineering as a solution? ⚡ Technology’s Role: The rise of AI is seen positively by the majority of experts, with a notable generational divide. Younger experts are more cautious, wary of automation's potential to disrupt jobs, while older generations are more optimistic about the technological benefits. 💥 Nuclear Challenges: Experts predict a more ungoverned nuclear age, with increased nuclear proliferation, and growing threats of nuclear terrorism, especially with countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia potentially joining the nuclear club. 🤝 Global Cooperation: While international bodies like the United Nations are viewed as ineffective, some experts still anticipate progressive collaboration in sectors like technology governance and climate change. A future filled with uncertainty but also opportunities. One thing is clear: the decisions we make today will determine if we can navigate this new landscape or falter in the face of these challenges. I see so many young people in unrestrained pursuits of ambitious goals without consideration of the consequences involved. At 83 years old, reflection becomes a habit not an exercise. Many of you will experience this. I will tell you from my decades in the business of ambitious goals and as a participant of life itself, progress can in fact slow down if we're not considerate about social costs or potential harm. We've seen in this in: 1 / Energy (particularly nuclear) 2 / Biotechnology 3 / Social media I believe we may be seeing this in artificial intelligence today. I want to see accelerated progress in all these arenas. But experience has taught me that when you take a long-term view, failing to consider costs can in the long-run slow progress down. This new era of technologists and innovators have an opportunity to set culture differently than was set in my generation. The idea is to have a holistic approach and thoughtfulness without paralysis in execution and experimentation.

Profound insights from Dan Goldin as always. Looking closer at a moon high level, no matter how oxymoron 'closer vs moon high' may sound, the same manifests everywhere, not just Energy or AI. The post triggered thoughts about the Cloud and cloud teams and strategy setup actually. I've witnessed so many times businesses failing to embrace a holistic approach for a thoughtful execution without weighing in potential consequences, that it starts to feel like finding a unicorn when a sensible approach is in sight. #Insights #HolisticApproach #CloudStrategy #BusinessWisdom #ThoughtfulExecution #TechEthics #Innovation #SensibleApproach
