In the #PharmaceuticalIndustry, sieves and screens are regularly used to determine the size of raw materials. The most common way to measure the sieves and screens is with meshes. On average, about 40 to 400 sieves are used in the industry, especially during the milling and sifting of raw materials. Getting the mesh size correct for your particular blend is really critical. It will determine how the excipients mix together during the mixing process, how the dry lubricants and anti-caking agents react with the binders and, ultimately, how the mix presses in the tablet or pill press that you are using. Why choose a flexible containment system over a traditional rigid one for your pharmaceutical process manufacturing needs? 1) Reduced cleaning validation. Cleaning validation in pharma is very time consuming and expensive, potentially costing thousands of Euros per day. Encapsulating this process within a single-use flexible isolator can greatly reduce this cost and time commitment - and in some instances eliminate it altogether. 2) Ability to retrofit. Rather than purchasing an expensive new rigid system, many manufacturers are surprised to learn that upgrading their existing non-contained equipment is a possibility through retrofitting, particularly when they’re under pressure to quickly become HPAPI-ready. Flexible containment provides this option, and does it at a much lower price point while achieving the same containment levels. At ONFAB, we've been able to successfully retrofit around 98% of all existing process equipment for clients. 3) Adaptability. Flexible isolator technology arguably also offers a better solution to contract manufacturers, simply due to how adaptable it is.
