Enterprise Ireland Sustainability Enterprise Summit 2024. An excellent panel discussion with contributions from leading Irish sustainable enterprises: Diageo, Dairygold, Techrete, and Aerogen. “#purpose and #reason equals #meaningful and #practical solutions…” Thats what I shared at the University of Northampton’s Sustainabilty Summit 2024 after a couple days of discussions and talks. Lemonpop Workshops attended the event to explore and learn how we can share or add #value and #impact on some of the topics from a creative arts engagement and participation perspective. It was great to meet people from different industries… who have different methods of implementing sustainability within their fields…as it means so many different things to each industry or individual… At Lemonpop we focus on the individual experience… the value and the impact it has on the individual lifestyles or smaller communities that are not necessarily represented in the broader discussions… so it was great to share perspectives… I look to see the outcomes from the Summit and hopefully attend next year. One the benefits for me of doing the CISL Business Sustainability Management programme has been the formal and informal alumni networks. The spirit of collaboration, sharing and support between many people in these networks really stands out. I have recently attended two excellent alumni events. 'Purpose Matters' where Louisa Harris shared Brandpie’s FTSE 350 Report Purpose Matters report which has demonstrated how FTSE 350 companies with a purpose statement perform statistically higher on return on equity (ROE) and return on assets (ROA). 'From Linear to Circular: How to overcome barriers' hosted by Delphine Bouchereau-Mazillier Chief Purpose Officer at Decathalon. The event included brilliant speakers from Decathlon, Equip, United Repair Centre, Library of Things and Jogon who shared the journey of their initiatives. The two things that stood out for me were firstly, the tenacity of the people involved in continuously testing, iterating, and relaunching ideas to find circularity solutions which work for the organisation and that the consumer wants. Secondly, they have all created solutions which deliver multifaceted environmental and social benefits. Thanks to everyone involved for sharing their insights.
