Do you want to get into shape and feel more energetic but its not happening? Start by getting curious about your thoughts. Our thoughts translate into feelings. Feelings translate into action or non-action. The challenge we often have with starting to exercise is moving through the moments of, “I don’t feel like it”. Its that push and pull between what we feel in the moment versus seeing and experiencing the long-term benefits of exercising. Its like when you start climbing that hill while hiking, the toughest steps are the first ones. Yet there is joy, beauty, and satisfaction along the way as you see yourself progressing in strength and in confidence. Below are some tips to help you when you are wanting to move through: ✅Notice your thoughts when it is time to exercise, get curious about the delaying ✅ Connect to your greater purpose of wanting to exercise- what is it that is driving you to want to get into shape ✅ If you feel overwhelmed start by taking that one step forward, it could be that 15-minute walk you have been wanting to do, joining that aerobic class that has been calling you, going to the neighborhood pool for a swim... The results? More energy, confidence, strength, and with consistency exercise becomes apart of your lifestyle. Will Power, Won’t Power and Want Power are the three actionable powers of mind. One ought to be aware of and consciously train to develop these powers of mind. “Where there is a will there is a way”is a popular old adage. Will power is the impetus by the mind to do that which is required to be done irrespective of moods,cumbersome task or boring task. Cleaning home,doing laundry, going to the gym for a work out , early to bed and early wake up are all done without skipping by the sheer willpower. “Discipline is the bridge between goals and achievement” For a student living a set routine brings in discipline. In later part the discipline gets oneself to routine. Won’t power is the wisdom that comes to us at right time and at the right place to warn us not to indulge in acts that prove detrimental to one’s well being and happiness. Exercising Won’t power frees from enticements in life. It gives courage to turn away from addictive habits. Want power is the most important which drives one to align day to day activities with long term goals,dreams and desire. Exercising these three powers of the mind leads to a productive,balanced and contended life.

C+ workout day. Didn’t sleep the greatest last night. But I wasn’t going to just skip because of that. Still wanted to see what I could do. Not the worst. But very far from my best. ~3/4 of the way through I was standing and thinking: I am exhausted. Almost just walked out and left right then. But I wanted to finish. While this Tuesday was far from my strongest day… Today I’m just happy I pushed through. Didn’t quit. And got more of these than I’ve gotten in a while to finish this workout - while still C+ self-graded overall - strong. 30+ strict by the end of this year would be sick. Getting there. Sometimes we cheat ourselves out of seeing we’ve got more in us than we think. Throwing in the towel prematurely. Assuming the worst when, if we keep going just a LITTLE longer… We surprise ourselves every so often. I think that’s why I love this work as much as I do. I get to use my passion for bettered health to help people see that, when they just keep going and don’t quit… They have the power to stretch their physical limit. Sometimes far beyond what they thought possible. I am a work in progress. I have a lot left to learn. I have a lot left to go. But along the way as I’m on my own personal journey… It’s fun to help people see what I see: That they are worthy. That they are capable. That they are strong. I’ve implemented many habits in my daily routines for over a year. 🔁 Here are the 3 things I do to not fail any of them: 1/ Implement it naturally in my day. 🗓️ Don’t go out of your way trying to fit a habit into your day. Do it right after something (to create a habit chain), during something you already do, before you start your day, etc. For me, exercising works out perfectly first thing in the morning. For others, it could be on their way back from work when they pass by the gym. Make it natural. 2/ Consistency > Perfection 🔁 Not all days are created equally. This is a big realization I had to cope with when I first started (& you probably will too). We beat ourselves up way too much for not achieving high standards. But all that matters is that you tried your best with the resources you had. That’s all you CAN do. Just show up. 3/ Streaks will only get you so far. 📅 Sure, starting out by marking your habit every time you complete it is great. It’s a good way to keep going. But it’s not useful in the long term. If you’re doing it right, that habit will be encoded in your brain after a while. It will feel unnatural for you to NOT do it. You no longer rely on streaks.

Do one little thing to be fitter every day, and never go to bed before you did. There is probably not a thing you will do every single day. You’ll work out or be active on most days, you’ll eat healthy on most days, you’ll go to bed early on most days… But we know you will never make a perfect score every day. And that’s fine. However, what you can do is never end a single day without having done at least one little thing right. This is your secret to stay consistent and keep making progress for the rest of your life. And this is your duty too. Keep track and mark the calendar every day you stayed loyal to your duty. Never break the streak. Can you complete a whole year? Can you do more? Can you keep your word and do one little thing even when you’re in a bad mood? Or when it’s late and you’re tired? This is how strong minds are measured and strengthened further. This is how you build a Discipline of Steel. If you’re experiencing a sluggish start so far to September, why not try something new – exercise can get boring so trying something new can help to keep you motivated and to keep things fresh. It's important that we feel challenged – this can be anything from improving the distance you can run to upping the number of burpees you can do to starting a new exercise regime altogether. Be sure to make whatever you do fun – the more you enjoy your chosen activity, the more likely you are to make it a habit. Being part of a team can help to motivate you and also creates important social connections. Finally be accountable – whether that’s telling your colleagues that you’ve signed up to a new sporting challenge or working with a PT who can help keep you on track. By committing to something you are less likely to find excuses as to why you can’t go. Follow these simple tips to kick start your September: ✅ Try something new ✅ Set yourself a goal to work towards ✅ Schedule your exercise for the morning if possible (this not only means it’s over and done with, it also means you’re less likely to skip it from being tired/overworked when you get to the end of the day) ✅ Be accountable ✅ Journal the highs (we often focus on how hard exercise is, so try reframing this by noting down all the positives that you feel during and after exercising) ✅ Avoid being complacent ✅ Don’t procrastinate #5pillarsofVitality #Move #Exercise #Reboot #NewChallenge

We're already into the last days of July, and it feels like summer is running away. Writer Tim Kreider has some compelling advice for those of us who may need a reminder about taking a vacation from being busy. Kreider notes "Busy!" is the default response when you ask anyone how they are doing (and this was back in 2012). In his well-read @nytimes essay, The "Busy" Trap, Kreider writes: ”Idleness is not just a vacation, an indulgence or a vice; it is as indispensable to the brain as vitamin D is to the body. The space and quiet idleness provides is a necessary condition for standing back from life and seeing it whole, for making unexpected connections and waiting for the wild summer lightning strikes of inspiration — it is, paradoxically, necessary to getting any work done." ⚡️ Taking inspiration from the #summerolympics, we know athletes understand the importance of rest and recovery when training for optimal performance and improvement. Rest and recovery give the body the time it needs to repair and strengthen itself in between workouts. And it allows us to recover both physically and mentally. Excited to share this moment with Hal Elrod, author of the transformative book The Miracle Morning. His work has profoundly influenced my own morning routine, which I protect fiercely to optimize my energy and mental well-being. Here are my favorite parts of my morning routine: 1. Morning Walk with Pickles 🐶 ☀️🚶🏼 Every morning, I take my dog Pickles for a walk. This not only gets the exercise endorphins flowing but also allows me to get sunlight in my eyes before I consume caffeine. It’s a walking meditation that helps me mentally prepare for the day ahead. 2. Workout 🏋🏼♂️ 🏃🏼 🚴🏼 🏊🏼♂️ My workout varies from lifting weights, swimming, biking, or running. This is where I push my body and get a big burst of energy, setting a positive tone for the rest of the day. 3. Quiet Time 🧘🏼♂️ 📚 📝 Recently, I’ve been meditating in front of my red light therapy device, but sometimes it’s journaling or reading. This quiet time is crucial for slowing my mind and finding peace before the day begins. These practices help me feel amazing both mentally and physically. When I skip a day or two, I notice a significant drop in my energy, positivity, and gratitude. Protecting my mornings is essential for me to bring my best self to each day. Here’s why you haven’t started exercising yet (with the only step you need to take to get started): Most people think they’re stuck because of a lack of time or motivation. But this is wrong. What’s actually holding them back is: A lack of confidence. It’s totally normal to feel self-conscious, doubtful and even a little anxious about your ability to start a regular exercise program and stick with it long enough to see results. And these doubts are exactly what stand in the way of most people even starting. The best way to overcome these self-limiting beliefs? Prove them wrong. Start with a short manageable routine that you know you can stick to and then gradually expand it over time. This process will increase your self-confidence. As your confidence grows, so will your motivation, and as your motivation grows, making time for exercise becomes considerably easier. Within a few short months, you will have proved unequivocally, that the beliefs that have held you back for so long, were wrong. Don’t let those beliefs hold you back in longer.
