As a psychologist passionate about child development, I often get asked: When is the right time to start teaching children about sex education? The answer may surprise you! Research shows that starting age-appropriate conversations about bodies, boundaries, and relationships early on can lay a strong foundation for healthy attitudes toward sexuality. By introducing these topics gradually and age-appropriately, parents can help their children develop a positive understanding of their bodies and relationships. Here are some key points to consider: 1️⃣ Start Early: Begin with basic concepts like body parts, consent, and personal boundaries from a young age. 2️⃣ Be Open and Honest: Create a safe space for discussions, answering questions truthfully and without judgment. 3️⃣ Tailor to Age: Adapt the information based on your child's age and maturity level. 4️⃣ Encourage Curiosity: Foster an environment where questions and curiosity are encouraged. Remember, sex education is not just about the "birds and the bees." It's about empowering children with knowledge, respect, and understanding. Let's work together to support parents in navigating these important conversations with their children. Together, we can help raise informed and confident individuals! #sexeducation #childdevelopment #parentingtips #empowerchildren #psychology

At Parwarish Cares Foundation, we understand that the first step towards protecting our children is overcoming our own discomfort. At Peach Blossoms School, we equipped parents and teachers with essential tools for sex education, body safety and dialogue to take place. One parent rightfully observed, '𝑊𝑒 𝑐𝑒𝑙𝑒𝑏𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝑏𝑖𝑟𝑡ℎ𝑑𝑎𝑦𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑟𝑜𝑤 𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑖𝑒𝑠 𝑡𝑜 𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑤 𝑙𝑜𝑣𝑒, 𝑏𝑢𝑡 ℎ𝑜𝑤 𝑜𝑓𝑡𝑒𝑛 𝑑𝑜 𝑤𝑒 𝑑𝑖𝑠𝑐𝑢𝑠𝑠 𝑠𝑒𝑥 𝑒𝑑𝑢𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛?' This heartfelt reflection underscores the vital need to prioritize these crucial conversations for our children's safety. Make It Mandatory is a campaign founded by Faustine Petron calling g for RSE to be extended to 16-19 year olds and include teaching about domestic abuse. This is backed by the Sex Education Forum and Refuge and has been taken to parliament to ask the government to #makeitmandatory. We at Mariposa Education and Training understand this is a key period in a young person's life where relationships and sex education becomes much more real they are now the age of consent and making big transitions from school to college or work, travelling, going to Uni and often starting relationships. Everything we have done up to Year11 now becomes reality and for some young people they have not had enough RSHE is school. For others this is where the refresher is valuable. We can engage with them as more mature young people and at 18 as adults. The conversation is coming from their experiences, questions and views and gives is an opportunity to engage on topics that help them make positive informed decisions and know where to get support. If you are working with 16-19 year olds in school, college or other settings get in touch to see if we can work with you and your young people around RSHE #makeitmandatory #rshe #rse #positivechoices #healthyrelationships #stopdomesticabuse #sexualheathmatters #safersex #equalrelationships #sexpositive #pleasure #consent picture from Cosmopolitan

Puberty education and sex education serve different purposes at different stages of youth's development. One of the biggest overarching differences is that while puberty education helps youth develop a healthy relationship with their own body, sex education helps them build healthy relationships and interactions with others. In order for youth to have healthy practices with others, they first need to know themselves, have the tools to care for themselves, and be confident in their bodies and minds. That's why, at Body Basics, we don't teach about sex until the 8th grade program. If a youth asks about sex before then, we tell them that their parent is prepared to have that conversation with them and we communicate what came up to all parents with youth in that program. Parents are an integral part of Body Basics, and we offer any and all parental guidance and education so that parents can feel supported in their own processes of becoming. By holding puberty rather than sex as the focus, we can better meet youth's developmental needs and be more thorough in their preparation for adolescence. #puberty #adolescence #education #bodytalk #youth #bodyconfidence #bodybasics #bodybasicsandbeyond #parenting #growth #development #support #menstruation #cse

NEASC Accreditation Visitor/NLP Practitioner/Certified Happiness Coach/Student Counselor and Former Instructional Coach for Additional Learning Support (PYP) at Pathways school, Gurgaon
Sex Education - The need of the hour! 'What is the biggest wall? - Wall of Silence' is a question recently asked by Anju Kish (she/her), Founder of UnTaboo - A Sex & Safety Education company during a session with parents at Pathways School Gurgaon. These sessions with either students or parents were held across the programmes as a continuum. School played its instrumental part in investing time, efforts and resources to empower the learning community - well aligned with IB, CIS and NEASC standards, Practices, domains and Learning principles. It was a great opening to a session which aimed at empowering parents to break this biggest wall of silence by taking ownership of their responsibility to provide sexual education at HOME - a safe environment where curiosity can be explored and answered in an age appropriate manner by a trusted adult. My personal take on the sessions were ( as parent of a 10 years old) - 1. age-appropriately designed 2. Insightful ways to open these pertinent conversations at home and answering the questions with ease 3 Above all - Encouragement to break the silence and support children with age appropriate information in a timely manner - which is essential to safety and well-being. As in the era of technology - anyways children will be reaching to information which most likely to be inaccurate or not age appropriate. I so relate with the work and words of another renowned Sexual Educator - Bertrand Russell. "Answering questions is a major part of sex education. Two rules cover the ground. First, always give a truthful answer to a question; secondly, regard sex knowledge exactly like any other knowledge." - Bertrand Russell Let's see these questions as the opportunities to open a much needed conservation and empower our children with authentic information. Anju Kish (she/her) Your passion and work in the field is inspirational! Keep guiding students, parents and teachers to do What's the right thing to do! Sharing the link to her latest Podcast with The Habit Coach - Awesome 180 https://lnkd.in/gAQ9F6ar Parents and Educators@ Here is your chance to further update yourself to break the wall of silence - What can you expect from the podcast? - Right vocabulary while giving sexual education - sexual education in the absence of sexual context - right age to initiate conversation - Sexual education - one time talk or incremental education and many more :) Happy Learning Foks!!

Sex education is a crucial aspect of holistic learning, and the Class XII students at Delhi International School Edge recognize its significance. In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP), they organized an open and inclusive workshop on sex education. Held within the school campus, this workshop aimed to foster open dialogue, promote consent, and empower students to make informed decisions about their sexual health. Kudos to the Class XII students for steering the conversation toward empowerment. Their commitment to informed decision-making and respectful dialogue sets an inspiring example for the entire school community. Let’s continue these conversations, break down taboos, and create a supportive environment where everyone can thrive. Remember: Knowledge is power, and together, we can build a healthier, more informed future. #DISEdge #SexEd #NEP #Empowerment
