"Our residential trips are always a magical experience for me. It is such a privilege watching the young people I work with trying new things, making new friends and growing in confidence. Working on the Teenage Cancer Trust unit at Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, I often meet young people when they are very unwell and very much at one of the worst points of their lives, so I feel very lucky to get to see them at their best on residential activities. “They had a fantastic time trying out the activities there including a treetop adventure, archery, axe-throwing and alpaca trekking. For many young people this was their first time staying away from home without their parents since their diagnosis, making this a big milestone in their journey with cancer." Last weekend, young people aged 13-16 treated at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People in Edinburgh participated in a trip to Crieff Hydro Hotel. Teenage Cancer Trust Youth Support Coordinator, Conor, shares why these trips like these are so important. We would like to extend a massive thank you to the staff at Crieff Hydro Hotel and Resort who helped make this experience special for the young people and staff who attended, and to NHS Lothian Charity 💙 for providing the funding for this experience.

🌟We are delighted to announce Chris Sargisson as a new ambassador for Brave Futures🌟 Read below to find out why this role holds special meaning for Chris and his aspirations during his time as an ambassador. ▫️What inspired you to become an ambassador for Brave Futures, and what excites you about this role?▫️ ▫️I waved anonymity following the conviction of one of my former schoolteachers I have since been afforded opportunities to speak openly about the long-term impact of childhood sexual abuse and grooming. As a result, I’ve heard from many people with similar lived experiences and so really do understand the incredible value and impact of effective early intervention. I’m driven to do all I can for this vital, skilled, charitable support service to be recognised and well-funded. ▫️Why did you choose to represent Brave Futures as an ambassador?▫️ ▫️It’s in the name and so the culture of the organisation. One that seeks to create positive outcomes from the most challenging, awful experiences a child could encounter. With the bravery of young people comes a future that for many, at the start was unimagined. ▫️What do you hope to achieve through your role as an ambassador for Brave Futures?▫️ ▫️To play a meaningful part in enabling a greater number of people, regionally and beyond becoming aware what is sadly a growing need and demand for this high skilled service and the impact it has. From awareness also comes the understanding of ways to support the organisation that principally operates courtesy of charitable donations. ▫️How do you envision making a difference through your work with the charity?▫️ ▫️Helping the organisation launch and establish itself as a relevant, understood, and important charity operating for the benefit of those in Norfolk who need its services. ▫️What’s a unique or unexpected fact about you that people might be surprised to learn?▫️ ▫️My school experiences and a very late in life dyslexic diagnosis resulted in me bouncing out from education very early never to return. As a result, I’m entirely self-taught and have not a single qualification to my name. I had a brave future, just went about it the hard way. 🌟We’re truly excited to welcome him to the team and can’t wait to start working with him!🌟 https://lnkd.in/eT39SCqs

Posting for more reach! Hygiene education is crucial for young girls' well-being. Providing access to sanitary pads not only ensures their comfort but also promotes health and confidence. Let's empower the next generation by prioritizing their hygiene needs. #HygieneMatters #EmpowerGirls
Hi all, I am doing my annual sanitary pad collection! This tradition has been ongoing since 2019 and till now over 3k packet of pads have been collected and distributed to those women and girls who are unable to afford them! Your donated pads have been distributed in shelters et 'les petites cités' of Mauritius. Unfortunately I do not post pictures of the distributions anymore due to privacy concern and because I do not want to publicise the social work as well. However, rest assured that your pads will reach the hands that require them the most! If you want to donate, kindly drop a message and i'll arrange for a pickup point! Also note, I do not take money as a form of donation. One packet of pad will be enough! Share and spread this post as much as you can so I can reach the required population! Thank you ! Lots of love, Girisha

Open Hands draws its values from Christian foundations. We aim to be relational, kind, generous, empowering and honouring in all that we do. "The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed." - Proverbs 11:25 (The Bible) Here are some ways we express generosity in Open Hands: - We go the extra mile to show love to people. Our teams are generous with their time and are brilliant at listening to and caring for people. - We give our best to show that we value people. One of the ways we do this is through giving out items that are in good condition and will add value to someone’s life. Thank you for donating items that are clean, fit-for-purpose and ready to be given out to bless someone. - We deliver acts of kindness to go beyond meeting essential needs. Alongside the regular items that we give out through the year, we love to give out extra items and treats that allow us to go above and beyond in blessing the people we serve.

SUMMARY OF 2023 AND PLANS FOR 2024 So much has happened in 2023! Our organization has reached new heights and started operating even more actively. Let's take a moment to recall our past year in numbers! 6 COLLABORATIVE POSTS. One of them was with the volunteer NGO "Project R.I.D.," with whom we managed to create unique shoppers featuring various dialects of Ukraine. 5 WORKSHOPS. We hosted five wonderful workshops, one of which took place at the "Lokalist" festival. 4 MAJOR ORDERS. In 2023, we had four large orders of more than ten units each: one was for creating New Year's toys for the "Hurkit", and others were for the charity fund "UA Help." 3 PARTICIPATIONS IN CHARITY FAIRS. Throughout the past year, we continued our mission of promoting Ukrainian culture and helping the Ukrainian army. Therefore, we participated three times in charity fairs, raising funds for various military needs. 2 NEW TEAM MEMBERS. 2023 was not short on new acquaintances; so, two new members joined our team. 1 BIG THANK YOU TO YOU. In 2024, we continue our journey into the world of Ukrainian culture and educational activities! We plan to do more, better, and more efficiently. We suggest keeping your hearts open as we are already working on a new collection of shoppers. We promise you'll love it!

Dear LinkedIn community, As we mark the 50th day of 2024, it's noteworthy that the Australian Organ and Tissue Authority (OTA) have yet to disclose their performance for the preceding year, 2023. Outlined in the budget projections were ambitious targets: - Achieving 25 donors per million people, - Attaining a 70% next of kin consent rate, and - Increasing registrations on the national Organ Donation Registry by 10% compared to 2022. Considerable taxpayer funds have been allocated towards various initiatives, including the Organ Donation Registry and sponsorships within the sporting realm. Additionally, significant expenditures have been directed towards salaries and travel expenses, particularly for events like the World Transplant Games and Transplant Australia activities, often bypassing the Community Engagement Funding process designated for other charities. In light of these circumstances, it's imperative for Lucinda Barry AM to address pertinent concerns: - Does Lucinda endorse the conduct and treatment exhibited by Transplant Australia towards its members and their funds? - Does Lucinda believe that the current emphasis on registry expansion aligns with the overarching goals outlined in the 2022 Five-Year Strategy or the anticipated metrics established in the budget? - Will Lucinda continue to attribute the decline in consent rates, particularly amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, solely to external factors? It's time for transparency and accountability within the OTA, and the community eagerly awaits Lucinda Barry's insights on these critical matters.
