Talk about worlds colliding! Achievement Network (ANet) (the org I work for) and Vanderbilt University (where I got my master's in Developmental Psychology) are on the same panel at SXSW to talk about math misconceptions, which is something near and dear to my heart as an educator! Take a look at this description and vote for it please! Every student makes mistakes on the way to mastering a skill, but researchers and innovators have realized that misconceptions in math learning are more than errors or misunderstandings —they provide rich insights into how learning takes place. Changemakers are now making the most of math misconceptions and are using this information to transform how we teach and learn. Join this discussion with funders, edtech innovators, and researchers to learn what math misconceptions mean and how they have the power to transform instruction by making student thinking more “visible.”
