“Here, at Our Company, we are a family!” No, you’re not. Scientifically speaking (linguistics major here), we associate ‘family’ with warmth and loyalty. This association can be weaponized and employed to make you work beyond the norm and grind unpaid overtime. How can you say no to such a heartfelt request from your worksiblings or a workspouse!? Yet the same "family" can lay off a sibling for ‘poor performance’ or being ‘not a good fit for the culture’. This approach not only distorts an employee’s image of their work relationships, but harms the company as well. Within the ‘family’ pattern of thinking, it’s a binary choice: you’re either a part of the family or you’re a black sheep. 🐑 No space for constructive criticism and you’re bound to fall victim to groupthinking. Are you sick and tired of this jargon as well or am I overexaggerating? Kudos to Loe Whaley for the wonderful video aid! #workculture #worklifebalance #leadership #teamwork

So glad that the Stripe Health team is talking about this critical issue. Carers are the backbone of our health systems, providing vital support to millions. Yet, their crucial role is often overlooked. Here's why we need to prioritise carers needs and perspectives: 💵 Reduced Costs: Carers save healthcare systems billions annually by enabling people to stay home. 🩺 Improved Outcomes: Studies show better health outcomes for patients with strong carer support. 👩🏽 Lifeline for Patients: Carers provide emotional and practical support, improving quality of life and overall wellbeing. Let's champion carers. Their well-being is vital to forging the way towards healthy societies. #WeCareForCarers
Today's theme for #CarersWeek is about work and employment. We believe carers should be supported in the work place and recognised in their role as a carer. We have lots of support and advice for working carers on our website read more here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eTnRm7N9

As this week is #CarersWeek, it is important to consider the different responsibilities that employees have, juggling caring needs of others with their responsibilities at work. At Maxwell Hodge, we have different policies in place to support employees and make their caring responsibilities that little bit easier. This includes: ✔ Paid Dependants Leave ✔ Flexible Working ✔ Homeworking There is still more to be done to support employees but we have found that offering paid dependants leave has been of great assistance to our people, particularly for taking dependants to medical appointments, so that they don't have to worry about using annual leave or unpaid leave. There are so many important stories and voices on https://lnkd.in/ecdDcx8g which allow us to gain a better understanding of what other people experience and the changes carers are seeking.
