🎓 I'm thrilled to announce that I have successfully completed my master’s thesis, "The Commercialization of Security: A New Lens for Understanding Public-Private Cooperation in State Cyber Security," with a grade of A (86.5). This journey has been incredibly rewarding, and I'm excited to share some key findings and their implications. My research focused on the NotPetya attack and the SolarWinds hack, uncovering the close cooperation between state agencies and private sector entities in detecting, mitigating, and responding to cyber-attacks. The evolving nature of warfare, characterised by sophisticated cyber threats, underscores the crucial role of private companies. Their expertise and resources are essential for strengthening cybersecurity defences. Through this study, I introduced the term "Commercialization of Security (CoS)" as a concept to understand this collaboration. It highlights a shift from traditional state-centric security models to a more integrated approach involving private firms. I owe a special thank you to my supervisor, Sarah Gerwens, for her continuous support and invaluable insights throughout this project. Her guidance was crucial in shaping my research and giving me the confidence to delve deep into this complex topic. I also want to acknowledge Francesco Cappelletti, whose insights significantly contributed to the development of my thesis.
