𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 ❓ This work was undertaken to address the challenge of accurately simulating long-reach dual-arm manipulators in a cable-suspended pendulum configuration. Traditional models often struggle with the complexities of cable constraints and flexibility, leading to a significant gap between simulation and real-world performance. By developing a rigid-body model that simplifies these constraints while maintaining fidelity, the aim was to improve the accuracy of simulations, making them more useful for designing and testing controllers, as well as for machine learning applications in robotics. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 ❓ The experiment successfully validated the proposed rigid-body model by applying it to two distinct cable-suspended dual-arm manipulation systems. The results showed a high correlation (between 91.3% and 99.4%) between the simulated and real-world response signals, indicating that the model accurately reflects the dynamics of the real systems. Moreover, when compared to baseline pendulum models, the proposed approach significantly improved simulation accuracy from 64.4% to 85.9%. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗯𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 ❓ This research can be extended by leveraging the realistic simulation environments created by the proposed model to develop and test more sophisticated control algorithms, particularly in the realm of machine learning.
