WHAT CAN ORDINARY PEOPLE DO FOR THE PEOPLE OF GAZA? Following my preceding post on the question; what can we do? 1) Which organization should people donate to for the most effective food assistance? This answer is fundamentally simple to answer. The organizations which is by far the most important to prevent exacerbation of the current famine is UNRWA. Not only is UNRWA by itself the most important because of their presence and size of 30.000 employees, it also is crucial in getting the help of other aid organizations into Gaza. In addition, the institution was forced to downsize in the midst of this crisis because the US, UK, GER, and The Netherlands succumbed to Israel's campaign to discredit and smear the organisation, something which has been going on for decades. The arguments have been proven illegitimate and unjust by several reputable organizations.(see below) Can we make up for the lack of political courage of our respective governments? So for those who want to help prevent large-scale death by famine in Gaza, here is what you should do: A) Donate to UNRWA Link: https://lnkd.in/eezRtghA B) Contact friends and family to do the same C) Go around in your neighborhood in a door-to-door campaign to ask for donations for the civilians of Gaza. *For people who are reticent in donating to UNRWA because of recent allegations by the Israeli government, the following. The general Israeli campaign and arguments for defunding UNRWA have been deemed unjust by several reputable organizations, such as The Economist and Amnesty International. In addition, the European Commission chose to give a green light to funding UNRWA last week (March 1st 2024) which is a signal of inherent trust on part of European authorities. Moreover the government of Canada has signalled that it will possibly start funding UNRWA again in the near future. (Articles presented in comments below) For the following questions: please keep informing me about how we can help. I will try to answer these ASAP. 2) Can commercial corporations help? 3)How could civilians put more effective political pressure? 4) In which ways is legal help warranted and effective? 5) What organizations have the knowledge and experience to provide an effective strategy? Don’t go Dutch; even a little will possibly help save a young life in Gaza.

A Heartening Update from Darfur: UNICEF's Remarkable Effort 🌍💙 I'm thrilled to share some truly inspiring news that serves as a beacon of hope amidst the challenges we often hear about from regions like Darfur. In the last two weeks alone, UNICEF has made a monumental stride forward in the battle against child malnutrition by delivering 10,000 cartons of lifesaving #RUTF (Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food) to Darfur. This significant contribution is set to aid our NGO partners in treating 10,000 children suffering from severe acute malnutrition. This achievement isn't just a statistic; it represents 10,000 young lives being given a fighting chance at health and recovery. It's a testament to the incredible impact that dedication and collective action can have on the lives of those in dire need. The efforts of UNICEF and its partners in providing immediate nutritional support to children in Darfur highlight the critical work being done to combat malnutrition and offer a glimmer of hope for a brighter future. I am deeply moved by this news and feel compelled to spread the word about the remarkable work being done. It's a reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and the difference we can make through solidarity and support. As someone who believes in the power of collective effort to bring about change, I encourage everyone in my network to recognize and support the invaluable work of organizations like UNICEF and their partners on the ground. Let's take this moment to celebrate this milestone and continue to support efforts that aim to improve the lives of children around the world. Every child deserves a chance at a healthy life, and together, we can help make that a reality. #UNICEF #Darfur #ChildNutrition #HumanitarianAid #MakeADifference

Today marks 9 years since the ongoing conflict began in Yemen. Nine years on, over 23 million people in Yemen are in need of humanitarian aid, and 2.2 million children require treatment for malnutrition. We've been supporting Yemenis since the start of the conflict, delivering aid to hard-to-reach places. Last year alone, you helped us support over 1 million people, including over 200,000 Yemenis. This Ramadan, you can help us provide nutritious food parcels while also addressing the underlying causes of hunger by supporting clean water, medical, and livelihood projects. "Whoever relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, Allah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Resurrection." (Muslim) During the most difficult days humanity has ever seen, Yemen did not forget those most in need. So please do not forget Yemen. Give your mercy now and help Yemenis survive amid the ongoing conflict: https://buff.ly/49bpHUQ #Yemencrisis #Humanitarianaid #Hungerkills #Charity #Mercy #Giving #Savinglives

In a significant humanitarian endeavor, Islamic Relief Ethiopia, in collaboration with the IR family and partners, is conducting a widespread #Ramadan food aid distribution across Ethiopia. With a substantial budget of approximately $1,021,499.60 (58,019,783 ETB), this initiative aims to provide vital sustenance to those in need throughout the country's regions. The distribution, encompassing food packs containing rice, dates, soup cereals, coffee beans, spaghetti, cooking oil, and sugar, prioritizes inclusivity by reaching over 7,000 rightsholders. Notably, 93% of recipients receive cash assistance of around $116 USD (6600 ETB) per household, while the remaining 7% receive food packs. The beneficiaries, which include vulnerable women and disabled individuals, underscore the commitment to inclusivity and support for marginalized groups during Ramadan. Spearheaded by #IslamicRelief Ethiopia, this ongoing distribution underscores a collaborative effort to alleviate hunger and provide aid to those facing adversity during the holy month.
