We've seen cybertrucks 🚙 , Rivians ⚡ , and electric Porsche Taycans 🚗 .... now the Biden administrations is looking to support the electric heavy-duty trucking industry by planning even more EV charging corridors! Can you tell we're excited? 😆

A few weeks ago we leapt at the chance to not only fulfil a childhood dream of driving big trucks on a massive test track, but to answer a serious question. Is it really possible for big HGVS, or heavy goods vehicles, to go electric?! Commercial vehicles like lorries and #HGVs, travel roughly five times the annual mileage of passenger cars meaning the potential for improved air quality through #electrification is HUGE. However, the benefits extend beyond zero tailpipe emissions. The allure of low total cost of ownership is a major draw for commercial fleet operators who strive for maximum profitability and efficient operations. While #electricvehicles are known for their efficiency, we wanted to delve deeper: Do electric lorries truly translate to lower operating costs? Are they truly capable of handling the demands of today's trucking industry? To answer those questions, we visited Millbrook to put those questions to our friends at #Mercedes eTrucks. 🔻🔻🔻 Click/tap image below to see video on YouTube 🔻🔻🔻

While there are still doubts (especially in Germany?) when it comes to electrification of heavy duty vehicles - several studies show their potential within the next years eg on cost competitiveness: "Battery electric trucks are projected to outperform internal combustion engines in total cost of ownership (TCO) from 2025 onwards, reaching a cost advantage of 26-34% by 2030." When winter falls across the northern United States and Canada, there is always one reliable topic of conversation wherever you find yourself – the weather. As more people and businesses turn to #EVs to meet their needs, adopters need to understand the factors that impact battery range. We know how important the adoption of electric vehicles will be in all areas of North America, not just the hot spots. Our RIZON Truck electric trucks, developed by the Daimler Truck Group, are built to be climate-ready. Are electric vehicles the future? They will certainly play a big part in it. Electric vehicles create less waste than petrol or diesel vehicles over their lifetime, and contribute to cleaner air by emitting no emissions from the tailpipe. We want to hear from businesses and those who use a vehicle for work. If you already use one, let us know what could make it easier. If you don’t, what is stopping you from making the switch? Electric trucks, unlike trolleybuses that receive electricity overhead wires, are battery-powered electric vehicles (BEVs). They've come a long way since their early days in the late 19th century. Here's a brief look at their evolution: Early 1900s: Electric trucks were surprisingly common for short-haul deliveries due to their low noise and zero emissions. Mid-20th Century: Advancements in gasoline engines and the discovery of vast oil reserves shifted the focus away from electric vehicles. Late 20th Century: Concerns about air pollution and rising oil prices rekindled interest in EVs, including electric trucks. 21st Century: Breakthroughs in battery technology, along with stricter environmental regulations, are paving the way for a new era of electric trucks.

W. R. Grace is driving the way towards reduced fuel usage. The company makes catalysts used in lighter and high performance car parts, which contribute to safe and lower-weight cars. Lighter cars lead to less gas consumption, reducing gas expenses for drivers and the environmental footprint for each vehicle. Watch to learn more. #WRGrace
