I recently had the privilege of immersing myself in Singapore's renowned education system, particularly in the realm of technology. The experience was nothing short of awe-inspiring, opening my eyes to the transformative power of innovation in shaping young minds. From the cutting-edge STEM programs in schools to the world-class research universities, Singapore has created an environment where students are not only taught about technology but encouraged to experiment, create, and push the boundaries of human ingenuity. The emphasis on computational thinking, robotics, and artificial intelligence has equipped students with the skills they need to succeed in the 21st-century economy. Moreover, the government's support for technology-driven industries has fostered a thriving ecosystem where young innovators can flourish. I was particularly impressed by the focus on hands-on, project-based learning. Students are constantly working on real-world problems, developing solutions that have a tangible impact on their communities. This approach fosters creativity, problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of the interconnectedness of technology with various fields. Beyond the classroom, Singapore offers a plethora of opportunities for students to engage with the tech industry. Tech companies, research labs, and incubators provide internships, mentorship programs, and access to state-of-the-art facilities. This exposure prepares students for the job market and nurtures a passion for innovation. As an advocate for STEM education, I am firmly convinced that Singapore's approach to technology education is a model for the future. By investing in the human capital of their youth and encouraging technological curiosity, innovation, and entrepreneurship, Singapore is not only equipping its students for success but also shaping the future of our increasingly tech-driven world.

The final version of the O’Kane Committee report goes a few steps further towards embracing more edtech in our universities. Delivering on the objectives of the Universities Accord requires more edtech. Student passports. A jobs broker for students to earn and learn. More micro-credentials. More flexible degrees. More learning in remote and regional areas. Better monitoring of student wellbeing. All of this will be enabled by edtech in our universities. EduGrowth: Australia's EdTech Hub

"Education is a complex problem, where should I start and focus?" This is precisely why the Teach For Malaysia Fellowship resonated with me. The best way to understand the problem is by working directly with underprivileged students and school management as a high school teacher for two years. What I value the most is the pedagogical coaching received from experts (Leadership Development Officers) and the constant learning from each Fellow in our regular Professional Learning Community meetups. Through this experience, I realized the stark difference between merely knowing about the low literacy rate among underprivileged kids and experiencing it firsthand in my everyday classes. Immersing myself in this environment helped me to find out the kids could need a space for them to learn and stay curious. "Education reform is a movement; how can I support others and leverage on others?" Each Fellow is required to design an initiative to address the identified issues. For me, fostering student interest and curiosity in learning was achieved through robotics. I garnered student interest and school management support to reestablish the Reka Cipta club, exposing students to the fun of learning science through hands-on experience. Additionally, the wide corporate and alumni network provided by Teach For Malaysia helped me secure funding and materials for my robotics initiative from Chumbaka and Astro. Eventually, collaborating with three other Fellows across different schools, we exposed more than 200 students to STEM through competitions, tours to science fairs in KL, and university visits. My students not only competed at the national level for two consecutive years but most importantly also instilled pride and a sense of possibility in their school. This collaborative environment, coupled with a strong sense of movement, motivates us to creatively and competitively solve the complex education problem. It's heartwarming to witness that I am not alone in this journey, as my Fellow peers are striving in their own ways and beliefs, all with the shared goal of providing our children with a better education. Everyone is willing to share and support each other, ensuring the mission moves forward. Even after the Fellowship, I remain committed to the movement. There are numerous opportunities to get involved as Alumni. When I reach my end, I want to confidently say with all my comrades that "We made the world a slightly better place because we were here." This path may be challenging, but I strongly encourage you to apply, as there's nothing more satisfying than witnessing our children's success. If you're a Malaysian below age 40 and would like to take on the challenge of being part of this movement, I urge you to apply before June 30, 2024. https://lnkd.in/eUvDeW8z #TFMFellowship #NationBuilders #AnakMalaysiaBoleh #JoinTheMovement #MakeAnImpact #BuildingLeaders

The newest edition of the GoStudent GmbH "Future of Education Report" came out today! For me, learning with, from and about AI is for sure a main topic for future education. AI is developing so fast and future generations need a good and critical understanding of how to deal with that. At the same time AI itself is a wonderful and highly effective learning tool itself! The second result I find very approachable is the need for hybrid learning. Just like our way to work changed (in many segments at least) to be hybrid, learning needs to do so as well. The time of only in-presence class-education is over. The effective ways of future learning will be group learning and projects mixed with individually drafted, technology driven learning solutions from basically anywhere. Check out the interesting results of the GoStudent report yourself: https://lnkd.in/eD4xDvnr
📣 Big news incoming! Today we release our GoStudent Future of Education Report 2024! 📣 We have surveyed 5,581 parents and their children, as well as 60 teachers across Austria, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Spain & Italy to uncover their unique view of emerging educational trends, and shed light on the wants and needs of Gen Z and Alpha students.📚 Want to discover what the next Gen needs to feel future-ready?🔮 Take a look at some of the key stats our study has revealed: 🤖 Technology Development is the top topic that students in Europe want to learn to feel future-ready. 43% of students also consider learning about AI to be critical for their future - ranked equally with sustainability. This marks a significant shift in priorities within just a year, highlighting the growing recognition of AI's importance, alongside addressing global challenges like climate change. 👩🏻💻 56% of children in Europe believe their future job will be tech-related, yet when it comes to educating them in the field, schools struggle to keep pace. Despite children’s growing confidence in navigating a tech-centric world, a digital gap persists, with 35% of students in Europe feeling unprepared to achieve their dream job. 🖥 Over 9 in 10 teachers acknowledge the effectiveness of digital tools to learn, but only half of them regularly use them, due to limited access to technology at school. Bridging this gap appears to be crucial to improve teaching methods and prepare students for the evolving job market. 🔁 2 in 3 parents believe a mixed approach, combining online and in-person guidance, gives their children greater accessibility to learning opportunities. This proves that an innovative learning mix could support each student individually to prepare for their own future. At GoStudent, this report - conducted in partnership with Edelman DXI - confirms our belief that the future of education is a blend of technology and personalised guidance, enabling every student to unlock their full potential. From personalised 1-1 tutoring to self-guided study enabled by GoStudent Learning, our AI-driven content platform, or learning a language via an avatar in GoStudent VR’s virtual world - we are proud to be ahead of the curve, developing accessible tools that equip students throughout their learning journey! 🚀 🤔 Feeling surprised, or fully agree with these insights?
