As you prepare to ride out for the weekend, I'd like you to consider the words of Chiwuike (Chi-Chi) Owunwanne, sharing that "Within the Corporate Responsibility realm, a community engagement officer is a convener, a connecter, a conduit, and a resource." To continue the alliterative thought I'd also suggest that community engagement officers are collaborators, communicators and contributors to the improvement of the community. Stay conscious and carry on.

In recent months, my thoughts have delved into what it would take to transform a creative space into a hub for community and a space for fostering a sense of belonging. It's evident that the privilege of community and belonging is not granted, as various populations and individuals face systemic barriers that prevent them from building meaningful connections within the space. As we strive to move from an access and inclusion framework to a more vital Community and Belonging paradigm, this three-way matrix has provided invaluable insights. This matrix serves as a guide by naming six core aspects of the three values we aim to uphold and delineating the tangible practices and programs to make a tangible shift towards a community-oriented and fostering belonging space. Delving into the understanding of Community Cultural Development frameworks and programs, I am struck by the connection between reflection, observation, and theories. These elements are constantly in motion, forming the bedrock upon which we construct programs and practices for a more equitable present. The interplay of these aspects gives us an approach to community building and cultural development, fostering an environment where more people can experience a genuine sense of connection and belonging. #communityengagement #belongingmatters #communitybuilding
