Is Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) the Future of Aerospace and Defense Communication? The landscape of communication technologies in defense and aerospace is evolving rapidly. Traditional systems like MIL-STD-1553 and ARINC 429 have long been the backbone, but are they facing a challenger? Our latest blog explores whether TSN could potentially take over MIL-STD-1553 in these critical applications. TSN offers precise timing, low latency, and high availability, making it ideal for time-critical scenarios. Read more to understand the dynamics between legacy systems and the emergence of TSN: https://lnkd.in/dXG_cXCt #Aerospace #Defense #TSN #MILSTD1553 #CommunicationEvolution

🎖 In today's military operations, technology plays a crucial role, and so does energy efficiency and mobility. To address this need, there are two types of military batteries: Galvion SOLOPACK™ & SOLOPACK™ II BATTERY ⚡ The Galvion SoloPack is a rugged, lightweight, and power-dense battery that can easily fit in a magazine pouch. It has 98Wh of energy that can last up to 12 hours on a single charge, and it comes with a state-of-the-charge display that shows the remaining capacity in real time. Plus, it's NAVSEA-certified, safe to fly, and compatible with Nett Warrior. ⚡ The SoloPack II is an upgraded version of the SoloPack, delivering 40% more power with 140Wh of energy, making it a perfect fit for short-duration missions that last up to 24 hours. It retains all the features of the SoloPack but with a flexible flying lead. These batteries are a game-changer for soldiers as they provide the necessary energy required in the field while also being mobile and safe to use. Raytheon has been awarded a $20 million contract to develop an advanced multi-chip package for use in airborne, maritime and ground sensors, its parent company RTX said on Feb. 1. The contract was awarded through the Strategic and Spectrum Missions Advanced Resilient Trusted Systems (S2MARTS) consortium, a Pentagon acquisition vehicle for the electromagnetic spectrum (EMS), trusted microelectronics, and strategic missions hardware environments. Per the contract, Raytheon will collaborate with partners like California-based Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) to compactly package state-of-the-art commercial devices that will convert radio frequency energy to high-bandwidth digital information. The multi-chip package will feature “industry-standard die-level interconnect ability,” RTX said in a news release. Die-to-die interfaces facilitate seamless data transfer between silicon dies within a single package. Compared to traditional chip-to-chip interfaces, they benefit from greater power efficiency and bandwidth. In recent months, Raytheon has been accelerating its work on advanced microelectronics in line with a broader effort to strengthen the defense industrial base. In November 2023, the company was awarded a four-year, $15 million contract from DARPA to boost the electronic capability of radio frequency sensors with high-power-density gallium nitride transistors. #raytheon #rtx #aerospace #defense #semiconductor #supplychain #military #nationalsecurity #silicon #rareearth #galliumnitride #industrialpolicy https://lnkd.in/ecSYhtEA
