Yes! you are getting bent out of shape if you don't stoop. The fear is real but science is mixed on what is the best method to lift to reduce risk of injury. Truth! We need difference mechanisms for different types of lifts. Can we really live a life without bending forward like a slouch (stoop) and grabbing something from the floor. No! Stoop causes an increase in shearing amongst vertebrae Squat causes an increase the compressive load Freestyle is more similar to squat. They all cause high amounts of stress. Yet it is at different times of lift phases. Tip: next time you squat between reps just start rounding your back and try to touch the floor 3x then grab a 5lb weight and repeat for another 3x. Be free, listen to your body Round your back and stoop so the next time you do your body is better prepared and less fearful.

Proper technique is the key to a well-delivered punch. So, here’s how to do it: Start by balling your hand into a fist. You’ll want to make sure that your fingers are tucked and your thumb is on the outside. The goal is to hit your target with the first two knuckles of your fist — so keep your wrist straight and your fist forward. Now, adjust your stance by putting your feet about shoulder width apart, and tucking your chin slightly. Following through is the most important part of the punch — so pivot your torso and shift your bodyweight forward as you thrust your first toward your target. This will maximize the force of the impact when you strike. That’s all there is to it! We hope you found this challenging and helpful. Have you been wondering how often you should be going up on your weights? The short answer is you should be increasing weights every week. The long answer is: if you don’t increase the demands on your muscles week after week they’ll have no reason to adapt and change. Sometimes you’ll be able to increase the weight each week; other times it may take you a few weeks just to master the movement pattern and form first. The indicators that can help you determine if it’s time and which direction to go in: 1. Repetition Ease: if you can easily complete the recommended number of repetitions with proper form and have some energy left at the end of the set, it means you can handle heavier weights. 2. Form maintenance: if your form starts to break down or you find it challenging to maintain it then you need to reduce the weight
