🤏🏼LITTA BITTA VALUE🤏🏼 Accessibility. I’ve been privileged to have the access to the leaders across Walmart and Sam’s that I’ve had. 🗃️But the theme of access is reoccurring: Access to information. To resources. To people. It’s individuals that genuinely care about or take an active role in my development that have afforded me the growth I’ve experienced. All we should ever want as People Partners or senior leadership is the proliferation of that next class of leaders… And we should do everything in our power to help bolster that! 👂🏼My challenge to everybody this week: meet with your team. Block out 10-15 minutes per member to hear about what you can do for them. 👁️Follow up once you’ve actioned what you can so that there’s visibility into your act of service. Most of my career has been in retail leadership. I've had my share of good store visits and also opportunistic visits. I was recently in a grocery store and the district/regional manager was there for a visit. The way the DM/RM was speaking to the store leader caught my ear. He was not attempting to be discreet. What bothered me wasn't what he was saying, but the way he was saying it. It was apparent that the store leader had some issues that were out of her control. It was also apparent that they didn't really have a relationship (It matters). I could tell, from a short distance, that she felt defeated and that bothered me. As a leader, pointing out the problem is the easy part. I know what's wrong. You know what's wrong. What are the solutions? How can I make this better?? He missed the mark with providing critical feedback and solutions in the moment. Leading leaders takes a strong personality at times. However, lauding and accountability go hand in hand. #leadership #growonpurpose #peopleandculture #leadingteams

Donna, our CPO, closed out the Leading @ Walmart series earlier this week.   Being in Global People, I have the joy of listening to Donna often, and this session was just as great. She focused on teams, feedback, and performance of self and others.   Though I will share a few key takeaways below, one that really stuck out was her statement that "leading others is the ultimate service calling" and this holds true whether it is direct or indirect leadership. As a leader we have a lot of influence in how someone perceives themself, the work, and the company.   Other key takeaways include: -Talent hording is a bad habit. Break it for the sake of the associate, and company. -Yes, hard feedback is difficult, but one of the most important things we can do.  -The contribution we have to belonging in instrumental in the success of our associates and company.   I am grateful for the opportunity to have sessions with three of our C-suite leaders who were all knowledgeable and passionate about their topics. 💡 “Become the type of leader that people would follow voluntarily, even if you had no title or position” – Brian Tracy 💡 I stumbled upon this quote that instantly took me back to my time at Walmart. During my time there, I had the privilege of being led by an exceptional individual. His leadership style was incredibly natural, garnering respect from associates not solely due to his position, but because he exemplified traits like trust, empathy, vision, and confidence. He had the incredible ability to earn the trust of his associates and was instinctive as to how to empower people so they would strive to be better, do better and perform at a higher capacity. #leadership #leadershipqualities #leaders
