“From the Ruhr Area to the World: The Future of the Hydrogen Economy.” Yesterday, I had the opportunity to speak at the 6th Expert Morning Talk by Duisburg Business & Innovation GmbH. I highlighted green hydrogen's essential role in global decarbonization and how thyssenkrupp nucera is leading the way with our innovative technology. Our roots in the Ruhr Area drive us to deliver world-class projects, from megawatt to gigawatt scale, supporting a sustainable future. The Rhine-Ruhr region is in an excellent position to develop into a hydrogen metropolis due to key benefits such as early “off-take” possibilities, an existing H2 infrastructure, a broad R&D network and – of course – leading electrolysis technologies. However, we have to create the necessary framework conditions. More specifically, we need • certainty about regulations and funding • unbureaucratic and fast permitting, and • to bundle hydrogen demand and created distribution networks at an early stage.
