John Carter from Jay Carter Roofing Sheet Metal of Pefferlaw, Ontario writes, "The Siena Church roofing project, completed by Jay Carter Roofing & Sheetmetal , overcame numerous challenges to complete the installation of North America's largest diamond tile shingles roof at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Hamilton, ON. With an expansive 90,000 sq. ft. of roofing—significantly larger than the average 2,500 sq. ft. home roof—the scale alone presented major logistical and planning challenges. The project also required the use of complex equipment, including a 100ft manlift, necessitating careful coordination and strict safety measures. The custom 12x12 diamond tile shingles added another layer of complexity, as their specialized installation differed from standard roofing materials. Environmental and operational hazards, such as weather-related delays, further complicated the process. Despite these hurdles, Jay Carter Rofing & Sheet metal's team successfully installed the diamond tile shingles, along with a custom inlaid gutter system and TPO flat roofing. As Summer winds down, many cultures celebrate the harvest after a season of hard work, taking inventory of the year's events, budgeting for the next season and preparing for the upcoming winter. We are giving thanks for the blessings we enjoyed, the lessons we learned and the people who helped us get through it all. As we give thanks to our colleagues, customers and suppliers, Here are some ideas to give thanks to our equipment, too, in this case our Formwork.   Formwork and Shoring are versatile equipment that offers safety when used properly according to the engineered drawings and within the specified limits. Observing the limits of your equipment not only ensures safety but also improves the quality of the concrete finish and extends the life of your gear. Inspecting your parts between uses and separating the damaged parts so they don't get used until repaired helps keep production smooth.   Performing your preventative maintenance when you have downtime or between large projects helps fix little problems before they become much bigger and cost a lot more. Scrapping and power washing your equipment will reveal small cracks and dents that could be fixed before they become major damage, or even worse by failing while flying or pouring.   If your panels have an Alkus face, consider the Alkus repair kit, or for plywood face formwork, repair patches are available to extend the life of your plywood before you need to change it. As for shoring, apart from modular panel systems, shoring parts don't usually touch concrete, however, they carry heavy loads, and damage is harder to detect in case the prop is overloaded and causes buckling ( permanent bow) in the prop or damage to the thread or the pin due to excessive force while dismantling.   #thanksgiving #construction #concreteformwork #concreteforming #formwork #concreteconstruction #projectmanagement #Concrete #forming
