🛡 Preventing Disease Outbreaks: 4 Principles for Safe and Effective Antibiotic use 👑 In intensive shrimp farming, shrimp ponds are valuable assets for farmers. Therefore, when shrimp become ill, treatment must be conducted carefully and scientifically to ensure effectiveness and avoid harming the environment and human health. 🔍 When shrimp show abnormal signs such as reduced appetite, empty intestines, or lethargic swimming on the water surface, the first step is to identify the cause of the disease. 🔬 Diagnosis can be carried out at the farm or in specialized laboratories. The diagnostic steps include: observing the shrimp externally, measuring water quality, and examining shrimp under a microscope to detect bacteria, parasites, or fungi. If necessary, bacterial culture on petri dishes, PCR testing, or histopathological examination may be performed to obtain the most accurate diagnosis. After identifying the cause of the disease, the selection of antibiotics should follow these principles: 💊 Use antibiotics only for bacterial diseases: Antibiotics are ineffective against diseases caused by fungi, parasites, or viruses. Antibiotics should be used for treatment, not for prevention. ⭕️ Choose the appropriate antibiotic: The selected antibiotic must be cost-effective, not on the list of prohibited drugs, and readily available on the market or in stock. 🎯 Proven treatment efficacy: Avoid using antibiotics indiscriminately or combining multiple antibiotics from the same group. Studies show that 87% of bacterial samples found in ponds carry drug-resistant or multi-resistant genes. Therefore, it's necessary to use antibiotic susceptibility testing to determine the most effective antibiotic against the bacteria causing the disease in the pond. 📝 Follow the correct dosage and withdrawal period: Antibiotics must be used at the correct dosage, for the appropriate number of days, and adhere to the withdrawal period of that antibiotic before harvesting to ensure safety for consumers and the environment. Are antibiotics approved for use in shrimp farming now? List of appropriate antibiotics? Why is this topic even being discussed? As if the industry doesn't have enough problems

for clarification. Shrimp at the time of the crust slip process loses appetite for about three days. This is an explanation that no one thinks these are symptoms of disease.
