SMA Specialty Medical Labs can benefit senior living communities 6 different ways. 1. Improved resident care: Accurate lab results can lead to more precise diagnoses and treatment plans, ultimately improving the quality of care provided to residents in senior living communities. 2. Faster treatment: Faster turn around times for lab results mean that residents can receive treatment sooner, leading to better health outcomes and potentially preventing the progression of certain conditions. 3. Reduced hospitalizations: Timely lab results can help senior living communities identify and address health issues before they escalate, reducing the likelihood of residents needing to be hospitalized. 4. Enhanced efficiency: Quicker access to lab results allows staff to make more timely decisions about resident care, leading to a more efficient operation overall. 5. Increased resident satisfaction: When residents receive prompt and accurate care, they are likely to be more satisfied with their living experience in the community. 6. Cost savings: By avoiding unnecessary hospitalizations and providing more efficient care, senior living communities can potentially reduce healthcare costs in the long run. #seniorliving #healthcare #partnerships #networking #caringfortheelderly

If We Could, We Should: An Approach to Hospital Development In developing our new hospital, we often face challenges and the temptation to settle for what’s easiest. But a phrase I recently heard from an experienced nurse friend involved in building a children's hospital has really stuck with me: "If we could, we should." This simple yet powerful idea is about pushing ourselves to find the best solutions, not just the most convenient ones. In my recent article, "Is it Good Enough," I talked about how we sometimes need to accept that perfection isn't always possible or necessary. The idea of "good enough" recognises that we have limitations and need to deliver on time. However, "If we could, we should" adds another layer to this by encouraging us to look beyond our current boundaries and always strive for improvement within our means. This approach means not settling for second best. It’s about stepping out of our comfort zones, looking at what others have done successfully, and bringing those ideas back to our project. While we know we can't achieve perfection, we can still aim to learn and innovate as much as possible. To build our New QEH we need to break away from traditional limits. Whether these are geographical, technological, or intellectual, we must explore beyond them. "If we could, we should" is ultimately a call to action. It’s about not settling and always aiming higher, even while we remain practical. As we move forward with this ambitious project, we will keep this phrase in mind. It will guide our decisions, inspire our actions, and remind us of the positive impact we will have. By embracing the philosophy of "If we could, we should," while staying grounded in the reality of "Is it Good Enough," we’re not just building a hospital but setting a new standard for healthcare. Together, we will make sure our new hospital stands as a beacon of innovation, quality, and hope for everyone who walks through its doors. #NHS #HealthcareInnovation #HospitalDevelopment #PatientCare #HealthInfrastructure #MedicalTechnology #HealthcareProfessionals #PublicHealth #Innovation #Leadership

Why is half of the acute productivity gap insufficiently explained? After NHSE revealed today the 10% productivity drop in the acute sector, four factors were said to explain roughly half of the decline: increasing costs as infrastructure and tech is upgraded; increased length of stay for patients; increasingly expensive new medicines; and temporary staffing costs. But what about the rest of the gap? On June 21st, 2024, join us for another Real World Health Round Table: Advancing Healthcare Efficiency, where we’ll be attempting to answer this question. We'll be hearing from two experts in our topics: Dr Gareth Kitchen & Matt Dooley who will be tackling hospital productivity and data confidence issues respectively. Join us for a day of what's shaping up to be a compelling discussion. https://lnkd.in/exZqF9i3 We are currently reserving this event for a select, focused group of senior NHS leaders and issuing spaces on a first come first serve basis. Beyond Bandages: The Key Traits of a Truly Great Hospital What makes a great hospital? It's more than expert doctors and fancy tech. A truly great hospital prioritizes safety, quality care, and patient experience. Great hospitals communicate clearly so patients can make informed decisions. They bridge the gap between confusing medical jargon and real understanding. Accessibility matters too - diverse populations should have equal access to top-notch care. But excellence extends past hospital walls through community education and preventive care. Great hospitals become pillars of health beyond their patients. According to a recent Money analysis, the top hospitals excel in patient satisfaction, quality of care, and transparency. The top contenders? Mayo Clinic, NYU Langone, Cleveland Clinic, Mass General, and more. Choose a hospital invested in your whole health journey - expertise, compassion, and wellbeing. That’s the mark of a truly great hospital. Hardy A. Money. The best hospitals of 2024. January 18, 2024.
